Congreve Rolling Ball Clock Build

Been working on the fusee, which is a bit different to normal turning, after machining a 17 degree angle on the blank I machined the curve in by having a loose tool post and turning it, I finished it off using a woodworking gouge with the rear of lathe tool as the rest. Next I took the cross slide screw out and pushed the lathe tool in by hand to cut the thread.

Considering the price of brass these days there must have been a lot of swarf going to waste. I had thought of collecting the waste materials from my workshop and weighing it in.
As much as I try not to waste material it’s difficult sometimes so I just make sure I get things right the first time.
My latest project, the duplex pump, seems to be taking longer that I planned. The machining of the big lumps are not too bad but there is a lot of small bits to make in pairs.

Is that a Raglan lathe olley ?
As an aside, I ordered a set of five BXA 250-201 toolholders from ebay. The seller sent me AXA 250-101's in error.
When I contacted them, they said it was their fault and they would send me the correct replacements and to post these ones back to them first. They were never quick at replying to emails, kept moving the goalposts and to cut a long story short, I'm lumbered with the wrong size holders.
I need to put them on eBay, but when I saw your QC toolpost I thought I'd ask on here if anyone's interested in buying them ?

No it's an Acorn tools, a UK copy of an American Atlas according to http://www.lathes.co.uk/atlas/page9.html
Bit old and knackered like me but does have screw cutting gearbox which is nice.
Bummer about the tool holders, my post sold for £55 plus he sent me £15 for the the postage and told me to keep the extra as the postage was only £9.

Waste is expensive but cockups more so bigwood , I didn't realise how critical it was that all the runways on the ball plate were exactly parallel, so I have to make a new one.

After not doing much over the last year I have started on the gear cutting.
Treated myself to a nice rotary table, as with the dividing head turned vertical space is very tight between that and the head of the mill.
I have to do this for the three cotton reel gears which need 19, 12 and 10 holes drilled, the 12 with a number 59 and the other two with a 69 number drill, so thought it prudent to buy a micro drill chuck which fits into a R8 collet. As you can see by the second pic they are pretty small. Just got to glue the wire in and then cut them flush. Before anyone mentions the finish on the reel, yes it is crap, thats going to need some polishing.

These are the first gears I have cut since college in the late 60's

Hit a snag, my dividing head won't do a 114 teeth, which is what I need for the third wheel.:(
Going to have to buy it, cost isn't to bad £18.60 plus postage.

Used to be quite popular in the window of jewelry shops which is where I first saw one.
Not very good time keepers though, more of talking piece when you have visitors.

Crossing out the great gear yesterday, I made the gear last year.

This is a cotton reel gear in the course of construction, made a couple of days ago, it's 1 of 3 all different.
I saves buying 3 expensive cutters.

Made a jig to do the gear depthing, its just a plate with a slot in, you make up some brass bar with a steel point at one end and a size at the other to fit the gears, set the distance and transfer that to the clock plate.
You centre dot the hour and minute spindle positions and use the jig to mark the position of the fusee.
