Having had a motor home for 6 weeks and 3 trips away we have found a problem with condensation on the front windscreen every morning. Our Elddis autoquest 196 takes an age to clear even with doors and windows open, any suggested solutions most welcome.

Go on your own = less breath! or look at a Polar Screen, seems expensive but well worth it

Are there any internal ones you can get ?
Yes there are, but they are primarily to reflect the sun's rays to prevent the interior from getting too warm.
External screens work the other way round, stopping the windscreen getting too cold by retaining interior heat so preventing condensation forming on cold glass.

We have been motor homing as a retired couple for 14 years. For the passed 7 years we have use a Meaco DD8L Junior de humidifier. we have tried both internal and external screen cover but always had condensation on front and side windows, Since purchasing the Meaco we can clear all three areas in about 15 minutes. When we go out for the day or walking we turn the unit on as we leave the internal timer on for an hour to dry the towels used for onboard showering. We also turn it on if we are cooking a meal in the van in the winter.
The unit gives off heat as it removes condensation. The unit in high speed is a bit noisy, but great in an unoccupied vehicle for a longer period of time, Also OK when getting ready to go out it’s healthier and better than a damp van.
Few details. Runs on 240volt only, weight 6.4 kg. 650 watts ( about 2.75 amp)
removes up to 8 litre per day.
It does not have a compressor but is Desiccant, they are now about £185.00
We now have an Autocruise Accent Van conversion and place the unit under the gear changer, we accept it’s a bit heavy, however the advantages of using the unit are greater.
Hope this information gives you the inclination to investigate.

Also is it healthy having dogs sleeping with you in a relavity small space ?
I'll let you know. 25 years and still testing with my three. Of all the ailments I've suffered throughout my life (and there haven't been many) I can say with utter certainty that they all came from humans. From this I conclude that filling the van with dogs would prevent access by humans, their diseases, and Covid 19. :whistle2:

External screens as most people say , the extended ones are better ,the front windows are the biggest heat loss in a van so saves Fuel , An important thing to do is before you switch off the engine change the circulation fan to internal circulation, this stops cold moist air going straight onto the window, big difference

I think of my windscreen as a very efficient dehumidifier which I empty once a day with my window vac.
This is exactly why I use a window vac. It get the moisture out of the air and stops damp problems in other parts of the van, which a lot of people seem to have under mattresses etc.
An external screen cover is also a pain when it has been/is raining/snowing when you take it off. In fact you then take moisture into the van and just make things worse.

Like many others, I use an external Silverscreen (the longer one that covers the bonnet air vents) and as a result it’s warmer and we never get condensation. A must for late Autumn through to early Spring.

We have an A class, so big screen lots of condensation even with the internal shutter down unless silverscreen on or I use RainX applied to inside of screen, it works, no condensation. You have to reapply it regularly but worth it.

Being new to Motorhomes we did a lot of research into problems / problem solving.

Condensation seemed to be a popular topic. Before we even took delivery of our van we purchased a Minster extra long external windscreen cover. Absolutely great!

To overcome the issue of having to put it away wet, we store it in its own plastic storage box......problem solved. (y) You can also open and roll down the centre.

If you met my 3 you would quickly realise, they are my family and would protect all members of the family to the death. Is it healthy? absolutely it is. Would prefer to share my space with my dogs than most people

We use internal ones mainly for privacy and blackout in the summer, thankfully and maybe lucky.:whew: So far...no condensation

They are good but do not work horizontally so you cannot clear down to the length of the handle. Keeping a skylight open a tad works wonders during the night.
They do work in the horizontal position but not as well.

The newer models work ok in the horizontal position as long as you don’t let the collecting bottle become over full.

I've had my TaylorMade external screens for 9 years now. they have lasted very well and I always use them in the winter. The longer ones cover the vents and stop cold air getting in. Only disadvantages are having to dry them off after bad weather, and if you want to leave somewhere quickly when wild camping. Since I rarely do that the second doesn't bother me much..

I see condensation on the windscreen as a good thing. All that moisture has to go somewhere. Usually in the nooks and crannies of the MH causing mould problems etc. I just use a rubber window scraper takes only minutes.
