Condensation in garage compartment?

I fitted some interlocking insulated panels on the floor of our garage. They were bought from Halfords but I've seen them for sale elsewhere

Have you check underneath them to see if there is any 'damp'?

Great photo. On our van removing those ally plates on bottom edge of door frame allowed me to check for soft wood, found it either end of each door. But needed to remove those bits of ally to check. With ally out was able to peel back the "chequerplate" style plastic/vinyl floor.
We didnt have any sign of condensation on garage floor that is normally visible.

Yes, I check from time to time and never any damp. At the beginning of this year I had to change the leisure batteries and took up all of the foam. The alloy tread plates were as good as new. The foam has been in place now for 7 years. It's tough and never gets marked with gear being pulled across it. Regarding ventilation, there are two 3cm diameter holes in the floor of the garage to the exterior and the garage roof is not completely sealed from the rear cabin bed above so there may be some slight movement of air.

Like others my carado also gathers a lot of condensation around the door seals when the heat is blasting into the garage. Someone advised in a previous post not to tape up the vent as it can mess with the heat circulation system. My floor has never been soaked heavily by the condensation though so I just give the seals a wipe down if they are wet.

I removed to heater pipe to the garage and redirected it into the hab area and just put a vent cover over the hole .
NO condensation in the garage now

Blown air heating e.g. Truma etc is recirculatory, it draws air in from the vicinity of the heater itself and blows it out of the outlets around the ‘van. The air in the van is usually quite damp (breathing, cooking, tea making etc etc.) The warmer the air, the more moisture it can hold. If some of that damp air is then blown into the garage area with less insulation e.g. in the single skin floor, condensation forms, like boiling a kettle on a cold day, your windscreen steams up, but your plastic double glazed side windows don’t.

A good explanation! That is why we taped our vent in the garage off!

I know it’s not a salution but you could place a couple of margarine tubs full of salt which could absorb the moisture.

Me too all the heat is in the hab area now. Never had any condensation in the garage.
I've also fitted an interlocking tile floor

We had a problem with condensation in our Hymer garage under the mat. But it got worse one trip and it turned out to be water getting in under the arch of the rear wheel. We removed our big box mat and replaced with small mats with holes in them. Dealer fixed the damp arch, all good now and dry.

I don't know how I would do this/make this work because my van has a pipe that goes all around the top of the garage, which has holes in it that sends heat into the fixed bedroom area via 1cm gaps between the van skin and bed edges.

Buy some 32mm water pipe insulation from B&Q. Its a snug fit into the gaps by the bed frame and below the heater pipes.
I also insulated under the bed frames and above the garage with a sheet of 25mm Celotex

Consider that airflow is required to stop damp.

I can't leave the space cold as that's where the heater is. The only way to ventilate it would be into the habitation area. And the only way to do that would be by drilling holes in the cupboards under the two single fixed beds or steps that go up to beds. Even then the garage would still get warm but less hot than it gets now. Any suggestions?
On our Hymer there are ventilation grills from the garage through to the hab area. Not had them on previous Hymers but this one the internal walls are aluminium. Never had any condensation in the garage.

We have a burstner and we also get condensation in the garage in winter when we are using the van. I like to have carpet down on the floor to protect the floor but I find it gets soaked underneath so I remover it in winter. I dont think you can stop it you just need to ensure the moisture cant get trapped (under you plastic mat) otherwise I think that would lead to long term problems.
