About to pick up a new (to me) Hymer with the Fiat 2.3 auto box. I notice there's no PARK option. What should I do when I park up ?

You have no option but to leave it in gear. When you turn the engine off it will beep loudly at you if it is in neutral.

It should come with a separate manual for the Comfortmatic, which you should read. If it doesn't have this it should be available online somewhere - just do a search for comfortmatic manual pdf.

They had dropped the separate Comfortmatic manual by 2019.

You should leave in A (Auto) or R (Reverse) never in N (Neutral) as you will get a warning and this is potentially one of the reasons for the failures some people get.

Having owned my Hymer Exsis i414 3.0 comfortmatic for about 3 months I thought that I'd warn you of the sensory overload!

Buzzers for passenger door open, hab step out, handbrake not completely released (it goes very low to the floor to fully release), not in gear, changing gear when stationary without pressing footbrake, switching off without being in 1st or reverse.

I thought I was going crazy! You'll soon get used to it all though.

In the spring centred position, up changes towards 1st gear, down changes towards 6th gear.

Pushing against the spring to thr right enters the up for neutral (always select thus when at traffic lights etc), down is reverse.

Pushing to the left selects manual, and again to revert to auto.

Put on your todo list to check when the clutch fluid was last changed. Should be done yearly. It's the dot4 fluid and not the dextron4.

Good luck!

You forgot to add beeps when foot still partly on brake and partly on accelerator. Doesn’t happen to me but husband does not move his foot fully.

The Comfortmatic is just a manual box when parked up. You should leave a manual in gear just in case the handbrake releases a bit when the brakes cool. The Comfortmatic just tells you off if you don't park it in gear

Seperate info for the Comfortmatic. Switch the engine off with it still in auto leaves it in gear. When you start up it will shift to neutral.

Our 2019 2.3 150 Comformatic. There is no N/P/R it is a standard manual box with a robotic gear change, just. Put it in first before you turn the engine off, when you go to start it it will go into neutral

That also stops the engine and opening the drivers door it selects neutral.

But you still have to manually select neutral before it will let you select a gear. I used to stop it in gear then select neutral I found that works.

Ours used to immediately go to neutral on start up.

The mild peril of trusting the electrics to select neutral is too much for me so I always end up selecting neutral myself before cranking the engine.
I didn't think you could? Even though the gear stick is in A or R when you start it immediately selects N but stick is still in A or R. By moving stick to N you are not doing anything as the box is still in gear and doesn't nove till you start up.

If you turn the ignition on but don't crank the engine you can then move the stick from A/M to -N and you will hear it select neutral - at least that's how my 2011 3.0l works?

That is correct but with the engine running there is less strain on the robotics as vibrations make the move easier

You can select gears or neutral without the engine running. But you do need the ignition on
