Comfortmatic gearbox fiat ducato issues

Hi Has the clutch fluid been replaced every year . This is essential as can lead to sludge and affect the gear changing. First place to look is your service schedule and receipts.

Its worth every penny to be a paid member however im sure you will get some good replies
As said not being a paid member resticts access to searches and private messages also you only have a limited amount of postings

You've probably already done this but try turning the engine off and trying again.
If that doesn't work, disconnect the cab battery, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect it. This will force the transmission control unit (TCU) to reboot. But if you have a batterymaster or some other device to top up the cab battery from the leisure batteries you will need to disconnect this first.

As other have said. Become a member and read some of the many comformatic threads. You could well save the joining fee many times over. Other than that Adams and Morley in Portsmouth are the trusted comformatic dealers I believe and that's who I used before we changed vans.
Be warned you may need a stiff drink whilst reading them

Me neither did it the other day disconnect the pos and neg undo the clamp risk a hernia getting the battery out then reverse the procedure

Not sure where you're based, but, I would get it to Adams Morey at Portsmouth and get Simon to fix it...... he is a whizz.

Having been through this myself I would say first things first don’t panic.
The first guaranteed way to cure it is to flush the dot 4 fluid for the gearbox this is quite simple to do if you can’t find how to from the Internet PM me and I’ll talk you through it. I had to do mine at least six times over a few weeks period before I had to resort to having a new clutch slave and master cylinder plus the clutch plate while the gearbox is off this was because my fluid hadn’t been changed in 11 years.
Look at the clutch fluid and if it’s black that’s why you’ve got the message.
The black fluid is effectively the slave and master cylinder seals degrading. This leaves debris in the system and eventually stops the Pistons moving correctly. The computer then says it’s not working and throws up the message . flushing it out removes the debris and then allowing the Pistons to move correctly.
If you’re successful in flushing out sufficient debris, you’ll be good for the future as long as you flush it out every couple of years.

now i have been reading threads to the missus its at last sunk in with her .to stop looking at auto fiats..she says come on babes you cant take it with you i said i can if i dont give it to fiat

My 2013 had the same issue. I just wiggled all the fuses and relays nd solved the problem.
