Does anyone know for sure if A classes are more pricey to insure than coachbuilts?
I imagine yes as say a front wing for a fiat coachbuilt is easy available and cheaper than a rip off A class part, plus the value of say 2 vans of same make and model where one is a class the other coachbuilt the a class is much more expensive.

Maybe you unfortunately had a ‘customer services advisor’ who wasn’t too clued up about what they offered cover on?

As per andysam, he was quoted only yesterday so perhaps try again and ask for cover for a ‘Fiat Motorcaravan’ as they don’t apparently list the individual converters on their system?

because of the wars currently going on.
:rofl: :LOL::doh:
Talk about spouting b*****ks.

Even if I completely wrecked my van on my own drive (with no one else involved) I wouldn't tell the insurance
(unless I wanted to claim). No one would ever know that it had happened. Why tell the insurance?
Used to be quite common.I've written stuff off & torn the back off another , never told anyone .second one was repaired at work . Our mechanic wasn't happy

Years ago when young I used to run 3 cars all road parked , along with a 4th cheap as chips & insured as cheap as possible whose only use was to accrue no claims bonus in case any was lost on one of the other vehicles . many of us used to do it.

Sums up my experience of LV trying to get quotes in the last 2 years. I did get a quote eventually but they required a tracker so it made it more expensive. However, I wouldn't insure with them as they really don't seem to understand motorhomes and I would be worried that I wasn't actually insured properly.

I feel the same, comfort and other brokers who specialise in mh insurance know what they are talking about.

Last year when my LV insurance was due for renewal they wouldn't cover me as they had decided that my drive was in fact not a drive but a "communal residents car park".
Nothing had changed from when they had insured it 12 months previously.
Didn't make any sense to me and I went with another company who had no problem with me parking on my drive.

Got my quote online. Start listing it as a van by chassis make and then the model is motorhome.

Good to know. I went in under Fiat and then Ducato, which only appeared to list the various van models - should have looked further.

Probably find that by reducing the XS, the premium will shoot up.
But if you don’t make a habit of claiming, why worry about the excess?
Agreed I have multiple vehicles and take a high excess to keep the premiums down. I'm really only worried about total loss as any claim is going to have a major impact on all policies for years. I have an ever growing slush fund to deal with an issues.

|=Tried to get a quote out of LV online and it led me all over the place with model (renault motorhome) and model (something weird and not relevant) as well as quotes coming through as car and van. Could not get through on the phone, gave up.
