Chocolate fridge or cupboard?

Mother always hid 4 squares of Cadbury somewhere random , out of sight of father as he would scoff the lot

Anywhere apart from the car boot, Lorraine buys our daughter and partner eggs each year and both in their mid 20s, she als buys for the kids next door. Last year she kept then in the car boot so no one would see them, yes you guessed it we had a few sunny days and they all melted 😂😂😂
A quick visit to Tesco saved the day

This thread now has me thinking 'mmmm..... chocolate.....' and unfortunately I DO have some in the house at the moment...

I like it at room temp, but I bung it in the van fridge if away when it's hot. (Bearing in mind that my van's fridge is not as cold as my household one. I keep it on 'cool' rather than 'cold' to help my leisure battery along.)

My grandmother used to slice Mars bars and keep them in the fridge. She had the tremendous self will required to eat just one slice, cold. But then she lived through years of rationing (not to mention the Blitz in East London) so knew all about making a treat last. To me, eating a slice of a Mars bar is akin to eating half a biscuit, and equally impossible!

You saying that reminds me of a game I used to play when I was a child. Might just be a Scottish thing. It was called The Race To Mars. You get a Mars Bar and put it in the fridge for a few hours. You then get 2 dice, a pair of thick gloves (in my house it was boxing gloves), a scarf and a hat. The chilled Mars bar was put on a plate with a knife and fork. Shallow markings were put on the Mars bar, dividing it into approx 6 slices. You then rolled the dice and when you got a double 6 you had to quickly put on all the gloves, hat and scarf, use the fork and knife to cut off a slice of Mars bar and put it in your mouth. You weren't allowed to have another slice until you had completely finished the last slice (and proved it). In the meantime, all the other players were frantically trying to get a double 6 and stop you in your tracks. Sometimes you'd have all the gear on, have cut a slice and some tw@t would scream DOUBLE 6 before you got that slice of heaven to your mouth. You then had to throw all the gear off and resume your quest for a double 6 whilst keeping your eye on the one that took your place. Not gonna lie, it got pretty heated at times. I don't think I've ever had anything nicer than that first chilled slice of Mars bar. It really felt like a true and worthy prize. I savoured every morsel of it. So yeah, I get where your Granny is coming from
Slight digress Cream Egg Ice-cream to die for
It's just come back at McDonalds here. There's nothing quite like a Cream Egg.

We do similar down south at christmas, we wrap a bar of chocolate in layers and layers of news paper, then as you do throw the dice and have to put hat gloves and scarf on and take it apart with a knife and fork. I can still see the look on my cousins son's greek wife's face, she must have thought the english well strange.

Shelf in the shop am partial to a frozen mars bar, the bar not the ice cream thing

Ideally just below body temperature!

I like the idea of a ‘snap’ but have to confess, a piece at room temp or higher popped into the mouth and let melt into a pool of rich chocolatey goo is rather nice.

Whilst on the confessional, I have been known, in private mind you, to dip a piece into a hot coffee, time it just right so it doesn’t melt completely and then devour it…sublime!

Ooooh yes. Or take a little bite out of diagonally opposite corners of a penguin then use it as a straw to drink hot chocolate

I like cool chocolate but these must be warmish and dissolve in the mouth. :clap2:
