Rally Chat Chester Food Festival Easter 2024

Popped down earlier and had a walk around... The field is super wet, as can be seen in the Photos. The area that I have circled in red is the highest, and if not driest, most solid, I don't think you get a choice where you park, but if you can, head for this area.

Also, if I remember correctly, if you need water they send you sown the tarmac road marked in Blue, this may be a ruse that will enable you to get to the more solid ground.

Red.
Thanks for taking the time to visit and report back- not looking good 😩

I'll pop down again on the Tuesday or Wednesday before and give you another update.

As an aside, because its so close to us I didn't take my Camelback with me, and I've not fitted Schwable Marathon Plus tyres to the new bike yet... Got back to the bike after walking the field and the rear tyre was flat...:sneaky:

Cheers

Don't give up hope, they tried the "No refunds" stunt one year, think it was the year it was delayed.
Carol Spoke to the then organiser and I know I got a refund if not most people.
They may give a credit note if not a refund. they have done that in the past.

So been cancelled!!

Haven’t had the email yet, but not surprised given the pictures posted here yesterday

Not had it either, really disappointed, woiuld have been our first trip away, I've already had one' wont be easy getting an Easter pitch.
edited to say it has just arrived 😢 at the need for cancellation, but would not have been happy to park on that field.

Now the big scramble starts to find somewhere else to go😁😁

There’s a clear trend towards wetter winters, pitching on grass might become increasingly problematic.

Sensible approach, I suspect a few more will follow suit. We will have to campaign for more hard standing areas

Six of us all in our own units now scrambling to try and find somewhere for Easter. Looks like it will be a carpark for us as not prepared to pay bank holiday rates on sites!

You'll be lucky to get on the Little RooDee, I know it's expensive but I would book Delamere or Heathfield.

As an aside, you don't have to be a member of CCC to book Delamere.

Cheers

For a minute I thought it might be delayed till summer again I would be booking that

Can’t see us risking Chester when Easter is this early again

Hope you all find somewhere else to go, we are off to ‘our’ beach , I have already told too many about that spot so not saying again 😁

Delamere appears to be full!!

It's offering me a pitch, Grass only, no electric... which is what you'd have at the Racecourse.

Thanks for the info but we aren’t really interested in grass pitches with the weather forecast as it is. Also I think the price is too rich when no electric!
Luckily we are now sorted - we are having a house party but with the campers being used for sleeping! I think there will be a bit of alcohol consumed especially as one of the group has a birthday on the 29th 👍

I'm visiting Chester the week before Easter (my son lives there) so can recee the Roodee if that helps. Wednesday 27th?

The camping has been cancelled.

Same thing happened at the 2000 F1 Silverstone Grand Prix held at Easter... although slightly later on 23rd Apr..
Carparks were a mud bath..

My son thought he’d go to The Festival of Power at Santa Pod since Chester was cancelled only to find that it’s also been rescheduled due to the weather.
