We are doing our first little trip in our 2008 Auto Sleeper on Friday night. Are there any checklists out there that I can be referred to for things to check and setup before we go and when we arrive?

Don't give yourself gas over it; just put the obvious stuff in. There are motorhome lockers and sheds throughout the land stuffed with essential items that have been used only once (if at all). You'll find that if necessary you can buy most life support items (e.g. tea bags, loo rolls etc) in 'retail shops' worldwide.
Stay the first night somewhere fairly local so that you can nip back home if necessary.

We duplicate everything too.
The only drama used to be after long summer trip, when we put all the cookware and tableware through the dishwasher on our return.

Solved by having everything that lives in the van in the same colour, a colour that we don't use in the house. Basically, if it coloured red, then it lives in the van. Anything else stays in the house.

We like others in this thread have duplicates to keep in our Van so we don't need to keep taking like quilts, slippers, blankets, umbrellas, tinned food ect from the house to the Van when we go away, and we always take something that we have cooked (usually from the freezer) so when we arrive at a campsite it can be re-heated in the Microwave, the last thing you would want to do is start cooking from scratch after travelling and setting up camp.
Wandering Bird.com has some check lists to print off if you need them. Good luck on your first adventure!

First thing is Gav, write a list of everything you put in the van, so you don't duplicate, as it will drive you mad when you're trying to sleep, get Biggi to do the same with food, utensils, bedding etc. 2nd go online Google Wandering Bird Adventures and look through Kat's list's, she has a list for everything, and she is one of the best in the game.
3rd. Just enjoy yourselves as whatever you forget won't matter as you will just make do, or buy it there if required . . .

A friend drove off with the double step still out recently. It caught a low wall and got rather bent and damaged the side skirt. Took me a few hours to unbolt, hammer the bars straight and refit and resecure the loose skirt. Doesn't bear thinking about if it had hit a person
Surely it should auto retract. Mine sounds an alarm and retracts as soon as the engine starts.

Depends if the relay to provide auto retraction has been fitted, not all are and some just have a warning lamp or nothing at all.

It is an older coachbuilt assembled by a moron and loads of features don't work, like the warning buzzer that was fitted and never wired in. It is now by the way. Autoretract is something I will add for them next summer
