want to go from south coast to France which is the cheapest route and which sit has the cheapest fares ??? Newhaven ,Portsmouth both OK not Dover please

I've been looking for the past few days, seems that the best rates are direct with ferry companies. You can get discounts through CAMC. I've ended up booking Plymouth to Roscoff, mainly because I get 30% off and it involves no driving in the UK, also I'm not sure where I'm going yet when I do get off the ferry.

Cheapest route I found was DFDS Dover Dunkirk £106 in June.

Crikey. How long is a piece of string.? Newhaven gets good reports.
Depends where you want to go in France.

When working out total cost you need to factor in fuel and if travelling by autoroute toll charges.

Generally the shorter the actual crossing the cheaper the actual crossing is.

Before anybody jumps on me please note I said 'generally' which means there will be exceptions.

There is a lot of bad press for the CAMC but I have just had to cancel Harwich - Amsterdam day crossing which I booked through them and only cost £86! for two of us and an 8.0m motorhome. I was expexting to lose the whole lot only to be told you will get a full refund less a £3.0 cancellation fee. Absolutely amazed.

The overall cost, start to destination, will depend on where you are starting from. It could even be Newcastle if you live 'oop north' but for a wrinkly anywhere east of Southampton, Newhaven will generally be cheapest. Other factors are timing as it may entail another nights stopover etc.

Three adults and a dog for us.

The breakdown of prices from Plymouth to Roscoff makes me laugh: three adults total £30.80, one dog £35!?
That seem e very low price.
Is that in a motorhome and when please.
Does the dog stay in the vehicle?

It's costing me £175 July 28th one way dieppe to Newhaven 7 meter motorhome 1 adult 4 dogs . The dogs are £80 alone so me and the van £95

That's a 00.30 crossing . To go at 1800 would have been another £100

So worth looking at the night crossings.

Sorry I was just making a point that one dog is more expensive than three adults! The motorhome was another £188 in June. Yes the dog stays in the motorhome.
