Cheap Tyre Pressure Monitoring System

These sensors that replace the valve cap worry me. Is the valve held permanently open to allow the sensor to read the pressure? If so, what happens if the sensor gets broken by clipping a kerb - instant deflation?

That was one of my concerns but so far seen 90psi with no problems and don't lose any air at 80 psi cold.
The upper and lower alarm and temp limits can all be adjusted to whatever you're comfortable with.

Hi LesW, I looked at the link you posted and it says the monitor has a range of 0-5.9 bar but if you scroll further down the page, the wheel sensors only go from 0-3.5 bar. Not sure how accuracy is affected when you exceed the upper limit!
Batteries in wheel sensors:
Others I have seen like this allow you to replace the battery (lithium coin cell) by removing the top part of the sensor. see:
We're still thinking about installing one of these systems but not sure which.

That's the same as the ones I bought, They supply the little spanner too.

It would depend on how long your valves are I suppose.

The caps add about 3/4", not a problem on my vehicle.
