Cheap Flair

What sort of tape to you use for that job. I presume you sikaflex then tape over top or otherway round.
I pulled the old tape off and checked the Sikaflex joint underneath and it was all good so left that alone then taped on top with https://www.eternabond.com/articles.asp?id=148 some of this, expensive but it been up there about 4 years and as good as new.

Edit, if you are going over to Polch in November I have some spare in the garage(y)

What a coincidence. I had not opened this thread before, but at about the time you posted I was on the roof of our Arto inspecting the joint between the main body and the overcab fairing.

Like you the sikaflex seems solid but the white tape has peeled off in some parts.

I am considering just taping over the existing sikaflex and have sent a request to eternabond to find out if it is available in Poland, if not where did you get yours? There seem to be several for different purposes - which one did you use?

A further question; where the tape has deteriorated the sikaflex has raised slightly in patches. Did you find this? If so did you ignore it and tape over regardless of the cosmetic effect? The other solution is to run over the top of the bumps with a Stanley blade or similar but I wonder about eroding the thickness and integrity of the seal - any thoughts?

Hi Geoff

And by another coincidence I just happen to be at the van with ladders out,

Yes I believe it was a bit lumpy underneath but I just left as is, it was a job getting all the old stuff off from memory, this is the 50mm tape and you can see I have lapped it over to create a double layer over the joint. Sorry I don’t recall now where it was from but I know it was expensive.
