Charging Fogstar 460 for the first time

From installation mine have always been 0.001 to 0.002 @ around 13.3v .
At around 14v the imbalance is 0.005 to 0.006.
That’s super well balanced. Similar to mine at the moment. Hopefully they stay that close in the years to come. I’m sure they will drift a bit over time.

it’s what I was sent from Ben at Fogstar the other day Paul

Hi Alan,

If you head to the advanced settings on the last screen of the app. You can type in password 888888. You'll get a long list of values, down near the bottom of the list is 'Balance Turn-On Voltage', please set this as 3.45V.

Next, go back to the top of the list, and go to functions. Make sure CHARGE BALANCE is OFF. This does sound counterproductive, but this means the battery will be balancing all the time, rather than when just on charge. Over a few cycles it should bring the high cell down to the same as the others.

Kind Regards,

Ben
What was your charge balance voltage set to when you
looked?

I honestly can’t remember

probably the same as yours is/was if you haven’t gone into the advanced settings and changed it
Checking the battery this morning and it’s at 36% was 99% last night. Very strange. No draw on the battery over night, inverter was off. Doesn’t give me confidence as I am leaving for Portugal Friday 😳 IMG_9538.png

Wow that's a massive drop for no use. Can't see that being correct, I would get that checked before you go if it were me

Are you sure your fridge wasn't set to 12v or some other item with large draw, tank heaters etc?

Wrong quote, it's the one above you need

It does show some draw on the pic ie 2.9a

Maybe try the Xiaoxiang Electric (Little Elephant) app that Fogstar suggest as an alternative?
LINK to android app, although there is also an apple version.

I was sent a new 230 seat base battery.
It Wass showing 50% yesterday now its showing 19%. I haven't fitted it yet!!

I have been looking at the fogstar underseat battery, partly because reports on fogstar products here seemed to be mostly positive. We seem to be hearing of a few problems now, including a flaky app and batteries being sent out in a poor state. Do batteries from other suppliers need so much tlc when first received? Fogstar themselves suggesting a different app rings a few alarm bells to me as to their support capability.

I think maybe the cells needed more balancing before being sent out and also some of the settings on the BMS could have been set more accurately.
They do offer good support.

I fitted a Fogstar to Tam's (Northernraider ) van last week when I first fired it up the app said 13% after the first charge the app sorted itself out and after a couple of charges the balance was 1mv.
They don't need TLC just a few charges.
It's not just Fogstar a lot of manufacturers have problems with the Bluetooth interface & app.

I personally wouldn't rely on an app, far better to fit a Smart Shunt or a BMV712.

You need the app for detailed cell information though a shunt will not give you that detail. You can get that detail with a cerbo/ raspberry pi reading the BMS info though.

And there's been 0 to 0.001 since fitted.

I check it daily
