If we book our return trip on the Chunnel with our Tesco vouchers (as last time couldn’t book return leg separately ) can they be changed if we have to adjust to going out coming back dates ?

You can adjust the travel dates/times in advance of actually boarding it's in the small print. You may have to pay the difference in price, if you've used vouchers you might not get a refund if it a cheaper crossing, but not 100% sure of that

Ok great , I assume these are the flex tickets ?

We buy standard tickets. Both legs are actually amendable so long as return is within 1 year of purchase date.

If your using Tesco Vouchers you can only use them for the "Standard" non- refundable tickets and you can't use them in conjunction with any other offers (i.e. the current 15% sale deal). You can still change dates on line but it must be done in advance.

Flexi tickets you can change on arrival at the terminal.

That’s interesting, I didn’t know that.
It doesn’t have to be much in advance. We changed our tickets from a Saturday crossing to a Thursday night crossing on Thursday (same day) early afternoon.

Some years ago we changed return crossings on route to Calais, stopped in Luxembourg for fuel and rang Eurotunnel to change our crossing date whilst stopped then drove directly to the terminal and crossed without any problem.

We had to amend ours many times last year; 4 times I think due to dog illness. No probs just log in to my shuttle app and change.

Just stumbled upon this thread, I never realised you could amend the standard tickets. i’m just about to purchase mine today. I was going to do a one-way and book a return on the way back to the tunnel, but my wife always feels uncomfortable that we might have to wait days if they’re fully booked. Thank you for a great bit of information.

That’s what I did last time but I got caught cos you can’t use Tesco vouchers on a single return leg .

On our foreshortened trip we got the dog wormed then re-arranged our return crossing for 24 hours later on-line with no problem. Except the £45 surcharge!

If you are going to change a booking do it as early as possible as it seems the closer to departure you get the more expensive it gets. In the past, changing a week or so in advance there was no surcharge. Check availability by going to the booking page first to find the cheapest option.

Could someone give me an idea of using Tesco vouchers towards Eurotunnel.
Mrs Bob uses Tesco a bit and i sometimes fill up petrol their so we have a few (some nearing expiry i believe)
We have been using the vouchers towards Chef and Brewer meals.
As a guide and hypothetically, spose i was to make a booking of £300 on Eurotunell, how would i calculate what a voucher or how many vouchers would i need to get xxx discount.
Trying to work out if it's worth the hassle.

Definitely. If you use Tescos a lot, you can save hundreds. My summer crossings save 280 quid this year.

It used to be better. You used to get 3 x your voucher value, but now it is down to 2 x. Still good though.

You can change up as many vouchers as you want, in multiples of £5 from memory. As DDJC has said you get 2x the value, so each £5 of Tesco voucher is worth £10 against a Eurotunnel booking. The Eurotunnel voucher is valid for 6 months once you have exchanged your Tesco vouchers and you can normally book a year in advance on the tunnel, so you don't need to be rushing off anytime soon.
The vouchers can now be used online too, so a lot easier than it used to be.
Go for it Bob 👍

I will pass on this info to her as i want to book for end of Feb

Our return crossing last year cost us £7 after using our Tesco clubcard vouchers. We have Tesco credit cards, Tesco mobiles and joined Tesco clubcard plus saving £40 a month on shopping. Yes, it's a bit addictive and that's why they do it 😭.

i have been told tesco vouchers is great for chunnel crossings, could anybody walk me though the whole thing from start to finish, ie from going to tesco to paying with vouchers - we have always booked though caravan club as its slightly cheaper. But never tried the tesco way.

First thing to do is to go onto the Tesco website and convert your points to vouchers. This is the most irritating part of it.

Now here is a thing to watch. You may find that some/all of your points are recorded as Christmas points or vouchers, or something else. You can convert them to be normal points (which can be used to buy vouchers), and this is what I would advise, as £20 worth of Christmas vouchers can only be spent in Tesco and is worth ... twenty quid! Those points can be worth £40 off your tunnel crossing cost. You need to phone a human at Tescos to do this.

Anyway, to get your vouchers. You convert points to vouchers, by sort of, 'buying' them. You work out how many you want to 'buy', (according to how many points you have) and then 'buy' the vouchers with your points. It is a convoluted way of doing it, and you may find that they will text you to check you are, who you say you are.

Once you have your vouchers, you get Reward Partner Codes emailed to you ( I know, I know, its drawn out and silly). This codes are what you use to pay/part-pay for your tunnel tickets. This is what the email looks like

I would say that if you book online, then you will find using Tesco vouchers fairly easy, although you need a My Shuttle account.
  1. Go to LeShuttle website and log into or create a My LeShuttle account
  2. Book a crossing.
  3. Enter your Reward Partner Code when booking just before your payment details.

Alternatively call LeShuttle on 0344 8797088 talk to a human.

If you ring up and talk to a human, it is probably easier as they will tell you what to do. Eurotunnel are on 0344 8797088. You will need to quote your Reward Partner Code to make your booking.

What would be interesting to know is whether you can get the (tiny) discount from the two clubs, and combine that with Tesco Clubcard vouchers. Never done that.

If some are nearing expiry you can spend say a 50p part of a £2.50 one and the remaining £2 gets credited back with a current start date. I usually spend my odd amounts on tesco phone bills or you can use them for a charity.

It's easier to do than actually try to explain!

Go to the Tesco Partner Rewards website, find Eurotunnel (may be under Le Shuttle now). It explains it all pretty well there.

Just a word of warning though, you cannot use Tesco vouchers for a Calais/Folkestone crossing, trip must start in the UK. That's why we always book a return then amend it online later if our plans change.

Not according to the lass I spoke to. Tesco voucher can't be used in conjuction with any other discount offers.

Interesting stuff, who'd have thought it.
It's a whole new world to explore Bob ;)

As explained above, it is really easy to do once you get on to the Tesco rewards site. All your Tesco vouchers will be there for you to choose which ones to convert to a Eurotunnel voucher and any part voucher balance left gets put back to your Tesco account as a new voucher.
