We have eventually started our season of travels with a nice little CCC temp holiday site at Pateley Bridge near Harrogate for a couple of nights. It's £15 per night which is about £5 more than I would normally pay for similar.
However it is in the show ground with access to 2 toilet blocks. Also the nearest play park and recreation area is a 2 minute walk and my son tells me it's excellent. Any amount of space with short grass and obviously very dry. It's shaded from wind with being in the valley. It runs until the 24th of this month.

The village is small but quirky....I'm very relaxed and happy 😊 it's definitely worth a few days.

THS and CS sites were the reason we were with the CCC but after fifteen years we cancelled our membership as post COVID the prices have gone too high for what is usually a tap in a field. We are lucky enough to be able to use the cash saved to cross the channel and make use of the fantastic network of motorhome places many FOC.

Of course that makes no sense, driving for hours to reach the channel ports, pay the hundreds for tunnel/ferry fares for just a few days or a long weekend.

Thanks Outdoors Dad for the mini review & recommendation.

We are Stewards on a THS at the Rugby ground in Harrogate, the one on Ruddings Lane, our stint is from July 13 to 29, may see some of you there. Long time since we were at Pately Bridge so will go there on one of our days off.

Is that one £15 a night?

We might extend our stay and visit the rugby club site also. Well isn't 'Fun' good for connecting people not only in France but the UK also!
I've run out of 'FUN' stickers otherwise I'd be passing them on to future members here or lurking members who have forgotten about the benefits of being a full member.
It's quite busy here and it's the first night!
Probably 50/50 MH and Caravans. Everyone I've met are spot on and friendly. Lots of dogs with loads of space to give them a run.
The weather is gorgeous so if your undecided about a look out either one of these sites would be great.

How long is it on for?

24th of this month. As I've said it is a few quid more than a normal ths but it really is nice and spacious.

Well after a good explore with the boy and dog we decided on a pub meal or takeaway....after seeing the local pizza shop worker crossing the road to the local butchers to get produce we decided on take out:tounge:

one of the nicest mixed kebabs I've ever had!
The boy and Lou got cheese burger and chips and both said the food was excellent.
My kebab had more shish, beef and chicken than kebab:p

We used to use the THS a lot, so by not using them anymore now the prices have increased we save a few hundred pounds. We are in Europe for nearly the maximum days allowed I never mentioned for a few days.

But the OP did ;)
I was referring to the OP comment about the price being £15 when he usually would only pay £10 and the CCC price increases, nothing else, maybe I should of edited the quote. I don't think anyone would think I was suggesting to go to Europe for the weekend!

I am treasurer for eastern region and the reason prices are so high is greedy land owners getting on the bandwagon and SSSI mitigation costs. Also as a club all the money taken is subject to VAT so if you pay £12 a night £2 goes to Rachel in accounts so if a club gets charged £10 a night by a landowner they make nothing if the owner is not VAT registered and about 87p if they are. And I can tell you there are very few sites charged at £8 the norm is £12-£14 nowadays.

Not done one for the Yorkshire Region before so just looked on Out and About and it says £12 but £3 for an extra adult so in most cases it will be £15.
Normally the fee is for 2 adults and any kids, so only if your having a threesome will you need to pay for an extra adult.😀

Well we are 2 adults and one child and got charged £15....but it's fine for a couple of days, it's a lovely place.

In today's world, a 'lovely place' to just park, never mind the other basic facilities like security, toilet dump, water, surrounded by like minded friendly people etc for £7.50 per head, per night, ( not to mention the FREE child) is a bargain.

As an Old single traveller, it oftened cost me more than that on a crowded, noisy aires on the continent and often twice that on a THS in the UK.

Thank you lucky stars that you are still traveling with 'loved ones' 😄

We love it mate it's a great pastime and my boy loves it. Crikey in all honesty you could pay a tenner to park a car these days. We particularly like THS as it feels a bit more friendly than some of the bigger sites, more unity if that makes sense. However we are aware that what a 11year old wants is often different to what adults want so we always make compromise.
In the summer the wife still takes him tent camping with the mam's and kids and he loves that also. She can pay more for a nights camping than than we sometimes get vanning.
It's great fun man!

The THS arrangement of C&CC is great. But where say £10 or £12 may have been the norm 5 years ago inevitably inflation gets in the way, and year on year the relative price increase becomes a bigger jump from say 50p to £1 and then £2.

It's similar for CS that whilst many have become quite costly if you consider just basic outlay at minimum wage rate (Inc employers add ons) for time of admin, booking in, grass cutting and other maintenance, even just part time, few will make any real profit.

However, as a singleton qualifying for wrinkly discounts I can stay on non ehu grass pitch, with full amenity block use often for lesser rate than a CS or THS, where they charge per pitch, not occupier.

I agree, but sadly even with the proviso's you describe, those pitches on 'proper' site for less than £10-12 are becoming very hard to find especially on C&MHC sites. 🙂

There's 2 of us. Last year we got a few ccc club sites for average of £13 a night for 2, in June & July.
This year, the 35% off is only available from 1st July, minimum 3 nights stay and book 14 days in advance.
Next best is 25% off from 28th April minimum 4 nights stay and of course have to book 14 days in advance.
Wrinkly discount still applies on top of that.
We might have to do cs more often this year.

As mentioned somewhere before it’s the people who own the land that are making the money, last year we did the Exmouth Rugby ground one and the Rugby Club wanted £12 a night as a starter.

Well after a late breakfast we headed up stream of the river Nidd. A few anglers dry fly fishing as a few good fly hatches buzzing about. We walked to Gouthwaite reservoir, we had a refreshment stop at the 'sports arms' pub on way back.

We love a THS and will hopefully be ticking a few more off this year £15 is OK in my book and the added benefit that we don't usually get the "oh you are too big should should have said you were a RV etc etc" no we don't have a RV, if it's in a nice spot and handy for amenities (shops and pubs) even better (y) and thank you to anybody that organises and stewards these events as it wouldn't happen without a lot of work behind the scenes.
