Caught covid on the ferry

Never caught Covid until last month. On a flight to Tenerife with a crowd of silver heads.

Continuous cough and flu like symptoms 2 days latere, worst thing was lack of sleep and feeling knackered.

Still not 100% and makes you wonder what it would be like without the Covid jabs?

Have a feeling we both have it, likely from the NEC last week.

Not bothered doing a test as we’ve both had it before and not in at risk groups, so could be something else.

Although after getting fed up with not doing much, so deciding on a can of man up, then bending over in workshop and falling flat on my head (lovely big scar) and knocking myself out for a seconds, maybe I should have left it another day

Annoying, feel crap and now my head hurts, but not worrying like it is for more at risk groups. Claira was much more sensible and stayed crashed out.

But, as I said, it is ‘mostly’ true.

Similar to us when we caught it (well, except the D & V); unpleasant for a few days and a loitering hangover type headache for about a week but, in reality, of no real consequence.

I had flu some 30 years ago and I know which one I’d prefer to catch again and it isn’t the one I caught when I was much younger.

That is your experience and accept this, but not fully generalisable, the likelihood that should you be unfortunate to catch it again or again you may just find the symptoms get worse which is what people are saying who get it multiple times

Friends who have caught it recently have been floored with fatigue, they are early 40's and fit,

That is your experience and accept this, but not fully generalisable

Indeed, as is the case with your friends but it is true to say that, from a public health perspective, catching Covid is no longer a significant concern and is, essentially, the point I made in my initial response.

We both tested positive for Covid in February, banging headache, high temperature, constant dry cough and tight chest. My chest is just starting to feel a bit better.
I wouldn’t like to have caught it without having all the jabs.
I was much worse with the flu in the early seventies.

Indeed and both comments not fully generalisable, deaths associated with Covid between week ending the 6th of January and 17th February is 4,086
Whilst hospitals have a lower rate of admission at 9.38 per 100,000 maybe this is not of significant concern but will be to those families of those who have died and those who have been admitted.

For some this is still a concern and their concerns should not be dismissed, for others they hold no such concerns, but the reality is Covid is still out there and for those who need to take care need to. The Government devolved responsibility to individuals based upon their own needs so for some there is still significant concern.

An example is a neighbours daughter is undergoing chemo and surgery for Cancer, they wear face masks when shopping if they caught covid it would probably be inconvenient, if they pass this on to their Daughter it would probably kill her due to her compromised immunity.

When we speak with our Neighbours we give them space we do not stand a 'normal' social distance we also try and ensure we stand down wind.

I have attached the ONS data not to prove a point but just to outline this thing is still ongoing and does affect many people granted not as many as at the beginning and thankfully we have the Covid Jabs.

All I can say is be kind be careful and if people think they have it even mildly take care not to past on as you wouldn't want a friend or loved one to be one of the following stats

Crikey, that's a surprise to me; I had no idea it was still so prevalent.
we do not stand a 'normal' social distance
I find I'm still doing that habitually when chatting and when in queues.

I’m on day 11 and still testing positive. Mrs Norfolk was negative yesterday after 8 days. First time I have had it and it’s not pleasant. Cannot have vaccine boosters as my disability (CIDP) caused by very rare reaction the first vaccine I had. Recovery medication are immunosuppressants so in vulnerable category. Just very relieved I have been able to get through it without hospital treatment.

I’m not saying it’s right or wrong HMG decided we have to live with it and stopped publishing news and data as such.
Sounds like you have adopted the good practice of still keeping distance etc one of the science sites that is a good one to look at if your interested is the Zoe health study they do some cracking podcasts there was one about Coffee and it’s affects all quite interesting stuff.

Interesting study, I'll have a proper look.
It makes me chuckle at checkouts or bank counters when some customers find it necessary to bend down and stick their head sideways to speak through the hole in the Perspex guard.
