Carthago Issues anyone

All our 'bought in' appliances from 2003 MH build are still working. Either we have been lucky or even those were better quality then?
Yes same here Geoff in our March 2005 model, hope that doesn’t tempt fate. Original fridge freezer, Inverter, solar, charger, original batteries, heating etc etc.

We must have been lucky too.

Re the water pump. I am on the third one. 1st one lasted until 2016- 2020, then the second lasted a year. Both failed pumps started giving more vibration before giving up. So perhaps have a spare one on board for your travels. An easy change just a pain as to where it is fixed

Buy cheap buy twice
Trouble is that nowadays paying more doesn't guarantee a better product, it often means more complicated bits to go wrong!

Well that's another storey Im low on gas and couldn't find any last week

Oxford area any around here

Most places not got any

For gas try a Tool Hire Company. That’s where we get ours.

They keep cylinders for tar boilers etc and don’t suffer the demand of caravan accessory shops.

Just changed to a Carthago 59 XL Chic and seem to have a few issues that I need to sort

Just out of warranty so down to me 2 and half years old

Any help would be appreciated before I dive in.

1. The inverta factory fit 1800 doesn't seem to recognise 230 hook up and stays inverting. If you manually turn it of when on ehu the 230 sockets work but if its on standby you get no 230 to sockets

2. Electric slid out step retracts a bit twisted and then gets stuck a helping hand or shove and it goes back in but if not gets stuck halfway

3. Alde heating pump is a bit noisy more so then I remember on previous vans with this wet system works ok though

4. Water pump judders a bit when on I guess I can tune that out

5 Fridge is very sensitive on 230 hook up and when you take another source power draw it flashes as if its got no power and bleeps. Then will resets. At night with a stable power supply its fine but in the day its a pain

Crap really for an expensive motorhome but its what you have to expect with a private sale. Not complaining you pay your money and take your choice but some issues Ill need to fix

We bought a 2 1/2year old S Plus with less than 3k miles
1 Wipers failed on our way home
2 electric drawer locking module failed
3 compressor air pressure switch
4 both batteries leisure kaput
5 toilet flush valve failed
6 main control panel failed

That was bought from Premium motorhomes In Doncaster and none of them were covered by the dealers warranty! Be Warned☹️

At least it didn't catch fire after 4 days of ownership like the one Haganap bought.

Yes that was a case of bad luck, very bad luck fortunately that is not a regular occurrence.

I think you would have some recourse under the sale of goods legislation in that the vehicle was 'not fit for purpose' and/or 'not of merchantable quality'. A solicitor, or a cheaper alternative would be Citizens Advice Bureau/Trading Standards.

A threat of going to either might produce results.

Premium have a good reputation so might like to keep it.
