Carthago A-class - wibble-wobble needs sorting

Get yourself a PVC you know you want to.
No ta, quite happy with my new Carthago. We did, however, get some 'wibble' with the Globecar PVC which is one reason why I was gonna fit some semi-air bags on the rear, I bought the kit but didn't get it fitted and then of course we changed vans!

Maybe the only solution is to get rid of the telly-tubby that causes the problem when moving around ... :giggle:

Not cheap but a semi air kit for the alko chassis will stop the wibble when walking about and help with stability on the road

Er ... have you been hibernating for the past few months 'Big Bear' ?? Looks like you missed my previous posts (on several other threads) where I said I'd had semi-air fitted in November :giggle: ... one of them below:

Unfortunately we didn't get to use the MH before our Spanish trip and had the semi-air fitted just before we went so don't have a way to say if the semi-air has made a difference to how much it 'wibbled' without it, but it hasn't prevented it. :( I hasten to say, however, that it handles beautifully when driving.

been a little busy Mel. try pumping up the airbags to cure the wibble

Once down I put the winding handle across my pedals, so can’t drive away with them down. They do have a fail safe system, where they will fold, but only if you drive off forward.
Quite safe with a woman driver then, she won't know where reverse gear is.

A quick solution is a single scissor.jack, not pretty though.
That too has been considered as we have the scissor jack that came with the MH but realistically we'd need 2, one for each side at the rear. I don't really want to have to prat around having to retrieve stuff from the garage and set it up, I'd rather have something fixed permanently to the rear chassis which can be wound/dropped down when needed.

Go for the Alco rear steadies. I had them on my 143 bolted directly to the rear chassis extension.

I have seen pictures of remote control wind down power steadies. Basically a caravan corner steady with a motor attached under the chassis. Then a small remote control with up and down buttons. Sort of a half way house between crawling on the floor in the mud and hydraulic levellers. Not sure who made them though

Which type of steady did you have? There appears to be a few types available.
