Carthago Compactline
Exp
I’m a newbie
Hi I have been gifted a LHD Cartago Compactline 2015 . Lovely machine, but my big worry is that it is LHD . Anyone here with a LHD with experience of driving on UK roads. Just how difficult is it to do

I’m really nervous to take it out! My brother has gifted the motor home to me, it’s beautiful, I’m looking forward to our first night out in it.

Virtually impossible to drive that in the UK, VAST technical difficulties ahead if you attempt it. Purely out of helpfulness I'll swap you our 2016 RHD Tribute.

:welco:

Our last two vans have been LHD and we have a Carthago CompactLine LHD drive on order.
LHD drive makes much more sense with an A Class,.
You are high up so easy to drive and even easier when you go across the water.

Thanks Lenny you make me feel a bit better about it. We have been caravanners for many years, so it’s a big jump to the motor home but looking forward to it

You won't regret it we were tuggers for over 25 years changed to Motorhomes 14 years ago can't stand the thought of a caravan now. Although we don't use the Motorhome much in the UK, too much hassle, once you are over the water it's heaven.

My present and first Motorhome is left hand drive and I do not think about it when driving…
Once you have driven a few times you wont even think about it👍
Agreed. I drive my RHD abroad and never give it a thought.

Tip.......
If you're concerned just tour abroad. It's also much more enjoyable.

w2f What a wonderful gift, do enjoy it.

UK roads are generally designed to a high standard. Long'ish slip roads, good visibility at junctions, etc. So LHD is rarely an issue.

Welcome,

Just a word of advice, best not admit you have a Carthago as there are some dodgy people on this forum who have them and you don’t want to be tarred with the same brush😂😂
Just say you have a nice motorhome👍👍

As the van was kinda FOC then maybe splash some cash on a 360 camera, probably £3k ? That would give you a really good all round view at all times.

Do you have a C1 licence as if the van is plated at 3500kg it will have very little payload and you will probably need to uprate it to make it useable. Even the smallest CompactLine is difficult to run legally at 3500kg.

You talking about me! :punch:

Hi Chris, welcome to the fun house! 🤪

Tell us which one you've got then ... we've got a 2019 Carthago C-Compactline i-138 (the shortest one they do) and we love it.

As you've only got one more 'free' post left use it wisely however I can highly recommend joining for £20 a year as the amount of help and knowledge you'll get for that is immeasurable, you'll be able to access the stuff in the resources section free of charge then and some of it should be very useful to you.

PS, it's Carthago, although I believe it's pronounced Cart-ago so not your not totally wrong. :giggle:

LHD or RHD they’re the same width.
I personally would rather LHD.
