Well here I am again, posted the other day about downsizing due to semi retirement imminent, spoken to Hymer dealers today, most saying nothing until 2023 for new orders Travelworld have said they have slots but can’t commit to prices due to current climate.
Anyhow this caught my eye as it’s on the heavier chassis and MAN 4.2 tiptronic engine, obviously the windows need changed or plastic film removed, couldn’t get much further away from us either😩
A few Questions though
in the current climate is it fairly priced?
Anybody any info about the older Concordes problems encountered etc?
The MAN engine gets pretty decent reviews, any one driven one work wise or in a m home?

It’s at 4front m/homes, I know they are from car
dealer background in the main.
my misses is ready to divorce me as I can’t stop looking at the bigger m homes😂 HELP!

I’ve just been informed that the previous owner had his own commercial garage and has self serviced, 2011 to 2019 I’m thinking this will be fine if he’s completed the service manual as evidence, any alarm bells ringing for anyone, I know it’s not unusual once out of warranty, will need to check it’s been done since then also

I think your eyes and ears will tell you whether the driveline is any good. I wonder whether garage has bought it or is just selling it for him? If the previous owner still owns it might be worth seeing if he can get it on a ramp so you can have a proper look.

Ok another update for those who may be interested, remote inspections are always difficult especially when trying to eliminate shadows and the like, anyhow did a complete a full external walk around, showing angles down either side, front window close ups no misting or condensation present, lifted all hatches, certainly didn’t try and hide anything, all the seals looked in good Nick and doors shut no problem,
One thing I picked up on was what looked to be dried coolant in one of the lockers, I’m suspecting from the alde wet heating, I have it noted and will make sure the system is actively running when doing a physical inspection.
The door was on the latch when he went in so didn’t see the key code working, this is where I got a bit peeved, he went to start it and it was as flat as a fluke, not good planning in my eyes, why wouldn’t you check?😩
Anyhow said I wanted to see/hear it running so supposedly that’s happening tomorrow.
Again he didn’t hide any cosmetic wear/ tear inside and looks like a champagne cork has hit one of the roof lights, not badly damaged though, fridge looks dated and needs a good clean up.
Genny started no problem also, couldn’t see evidence of any water ingress, but again really difficult to tell with a camera phone video footage, he showed the roof which looked clean enough also.
So as he has his day off tomorrow it’s another guy I’m dealing with, if it starts ok no warning lights staying on then will look to make the six hr trip to do a full inspection, he kept saying don’t worry about that the pdi will pick anything up and be sorted, heard all that bollocks from RS and still had multiple things to fix so ain’t falling for that b s””t.
Service manual has been completed by the guy doing the self service and the dealership have said they have done a service before it went to the last person, although briefly, so hopefully all good there.
That’s it for now, let’s see how tomorrow pans out👍

Has the Alde got a service record and the 5 year fluid in?
May need a new engine battery then if it’s been left to go flat , is there solar and is it charging the engine battery.

When the control panel is switched off on a Concorde the solar doesn’t charge the engine battery on the standard set up unless you have fitted a battery master or something.

Did you say it had been stood quite a while without being run or started?

Ref the Alde heating not sure yet, although any van I’ve had up to now I’ve never seen one, I’ll be taking my multi meter to check starter batteries, it looks like there’s two of them, yep solar on board, again not sure of how it’s set up, I’m suspecting it’s stood a while not sure though, will be speaking to someone else today to get a few more answers, need to see a few more things working before I commit to driving 6 hrs odd
Can’t get away until later tomorrow so will need to stay o night on route and get there early doors Sunday, I think the problem is they aren’t true m home people, if that makes sense, so some questions are met with I’ll find out for you.

I reckon this either belongs to the boss or one of his mates.
Maybe, it’s just unfortunate it’s so far away, I’m trying to get enough assurance to make the trip, up to now though the guy I’ve been dealing with has been helpful answering most questions, or going away to find out answers.
I don’t have the they’re trying to hide anything from me yet.

I'm not suggesting foulplay, just pondering why it might be in a car dealership.

More info the better for me, I had 2 lever arch files worth and sat down with translate and went through them. Maybe you need longer there though.

Aren't they showing 3 Concorde's for sale Jon, more than the main dealer, they have a lot of motorhomes listed.

Sorry, should have been a bit more explicit, they now have an arm that buys sells m homes, started from car dealerships but expanded, hence why I think some of the questions need further clarification

If you are unsure you could get a check done on the van by someone, if you google The magic Motorhome man he has a great reputation.
He is an ex Southdowns Concorde engineer who started up in his own and does habitation checks, repairs, Alde etc etc at dealers/private etc.

He has a great reputation on the Concorde owners forum with people saying he is brilliant with his vast experience and knowledge of the Concorde brand.
it will save you the initial trip and offset his cost a bit with your time and fuel saving etc.

He is based down that way so with that sort of money and you being so far away it’s maybe worth a call to him 07841426660 or just google The magic Motorhome man.

I love that blue McLaren what a stunner.
I’ve just spoke to Caz and we can’t quite get to the £200000 asking price though.
You could get a half decent MH for that though.

Someone on the owners forum viewed this van in Dec 2020 and said it was rough and not well looked after and they thought overpriced for the condition.
CazPaul, I would agree looking at some of the video footage, the leather on the arms has tattered the fridge shelves look corroded, the roof light has what looks to be a cork imprint on it, if everything is fine mechanically/electrically then the cosmetic stuff I can sort out, hopefully use as a bargaining tool to bring price down, if not I’ll walk away.

I’ve found an advert from southdowns for the same vehicle l, it certainly looked a lot tidier then, can’t find a date on the advert though, I also spoke with the ex Southdown mechanic he can’t look at it until the 21st so I’ll see if they get back to me this week

There’s a 2008 liner on a MAN in Wales just google Whiston Prestige.
Wow what a spec, just had a look at a video, it’s immaculate inside, can I live with another 1mtr in length🤔🤔 6.9 ltr 240 hp its a 1090m 😬

Impressive and a lot of motorhome for the money, but it would be a bit over big for me, 10 metres long plus 2500mm wide plus a long wheelbase makes it RV size which really limits where you can take it IMHO. If you ever want to sell its RHD again and unusual to have a motorhome this long without a Smart sized garage.

Have you been to see the Charisma yet?

I see this has popped up again funflair

jongood we were supposed to be heading down Saturday, the salesman phoned and said the main control panel was showing errors and he needed to wait for the tech who was due in yesterday.
In the mean time our application for building a new house has been refused again, after many several thousands of pounds to satisfy the Lake District planning jobsworths and environment agency we hit a complete dead end, so after re assessing what we do next, long story but the outcome is I’ve probably just doubled my budget for a m home, and intend buying abroad, not new though, would still like to try and get something over 7.5 ton, probably, need to understand what the tax implications are also.
Strange the twists life throws at you, lots of research now required of how to maximise an income from an old garage with minimal effort, leasing, storage??

Agreed regarding the liner though, me and the misses agreed too big, lovely condition though.

Will now also discount the Charisma as I’m getting a little uncomfortable things aren’t quite right with it

I couldnt agree more Martin. Its a shame because I remember looking at it at Polch before he had it painted and thinking how nice it looked ( although that was a few years ago now)

Its also been downplated to 7500kgs which must be a bit tight with the 6 cylinder Merc and an auto box.

Sorry to hear about the planning. Ive had my own battles over the years know how difficult it can be. Definitely think it would be better to buy a LHD one.

That Clou is worth a look especially as it’s been for sale so long and you budget the offer accordingly for a reverse paint job.

People need to realise that what they do affects resale price, there is a huge mansion for sale about 15 miles from us in Bishop Auckland right next to industry and in a truly shocking location. Tindale Towers it’s called.

It’s been up for sale years now with no takers.
