Hi everyone, This is a planned trip this year. I’ve just had a conversation with a German gentleman here in Finistere who tells me that the Roma are a real problem on the Med coast and up and down the A75 to Clermont-Ferrand, where they do ‘hit and run’s’ back to their pik..e sites on the coast. I know we have issues here, but does anyone know anything about this specific issue. Cheers.

Is this specific to this year?

We have used A75 , med coast many times with no issues.

However, we don’t stay on motorway aires for more than a short break or stop for fuel in motorway services.

Hi Phil, a current issue apparently and I agree m/w services are avoided like the proverbial.
I’ve not been that way for a while and thought I’d check, However I didn’t ask him if he was asking for trouble, knocks on the door, ‘it’s the gendarmerie’ etc.

Nope he’s done one now. And they in for a treat with my Casio! I couldn’t really mention’gas’ could I?🤦‍♂️
Unfortunately that area is "well known" for "gassing" and Rolexes going missing, so lorry load of salt is attached to it (from my perspective)

No worries, each year it appears at some stage, each year it gets poo pooed and someone will find the report from the Anaesthetists who will confirm it is not possible without killing a few people.

It will hit the Daily Mail soon

Indeed Suave, and I suppose it’s no longer hot ‘news’. Google have R. Hammond and J. Button as headline victims…I wonder why? Safety in numbers etc I suppose should we decide it’s a go’er. Cheers and thanks, Andy

It’s a shame it’s not true…think of the endless possibilities one could have with DIY anaesthetics. 😉

I did notice quite a lot of scantily dressed ladies under umbrellas beckoning me to go and chat with them last time I was down that way ... I think they may have been offering some information on the local area and things to try while I was there ...

We did around there last year. I can’t recall even seeing a traveller site.

The usual rules apply, don’t stop in motorway Aires to sleep. If someone tells you there is a problem at a stop. Drive off till you feel safe to check it. If it was driving okay before the stop, it will drive okay after it.

If you get hit, and are suspicious, carry on at a safe speed and call the Police, stop outside the nearest Gendarmerie or busy services to swap details. If waved at along the motorway, stop at a place of your choosing to check everything.

I even heard a time where the scoundrels covered a wheel in washing up liquid to make it look like brake fluid so the driver got robbed while they checked it out.

Yes it’s all good knowledge and thanks for the reminder, cross strapp between cab doors etc. had a mate dragged out of his car at t lights during Toxteth riots, told him he had a rear flat, I was a rep then, scary.

Just think how many houses are empty that would be easy to rob or how many old ladies are walking around that could be knocked over all easier than trying to rob someone unknown in a van.

2 points for an on old lady? 3 if she’s moving if I recall?

Who must be obeyed was watching, no room for manoeuvre 🤣🤣

Just don’t park next to one of these….😎
