Booked a club site on line yesterday and within 5 minutes realised i had booked the wromg weekend.Went back to amend the booking to the following weekend and was shocked to find it would cost me £20 for the pleasure.I think this is unreasonable but i am sure others will disagree.I have been a member for over 25 years and think it is a rip off.

They have a policy now regarding short time cancellations. However, a member calling back within five minutes of a booking would indicate to me a genuine error and it should be refunded. Other train companies and I believe Ryanair do this as standard.
Poor customer/member customer service IMO.

Unbelieveable. Yes it is a rip-off.

There seems to be a glitch in their new payment system. I am about to go to one of their CAMC sites that I booked in April. At the time of booking their system took my deposit (after much hassle and having to ring them up) and it also told me that the balance £123.20 would be taken automatically from my account the day before arrival.

This morning I checked my booking via the App. The App says I will have to pay the balance on arrival. WTF? On Monday before I depart, I will have to check my account online to see if payment has been taken by direct debit. If it has, how can I prove it when I arrive and avoid being charged twice if the Club's system is telling the wardens that I need to pay on arrival? Their new online system is really annoying.

I did a similar thing last night with a booking at Bridlington South Cliff Campsite (Council run). I called the next day and the booking was transferred to the following week for a cost of.........

Nowt!

Just rejoined the CCC . Left because they made no efforts during covid to open facilities. CMC at least did have the wristband system.
However, 3 nights in Cambridge we have saved the CCC annual fee over the CMC site also in Cambridge.
I have my principles………………to an extent👍

Have you tried calling C&MC CS booking number, 01342 327490? Quite helpful when I spoke with them yesterday.

Sorry I should have updated this thread. I rang them first thing Monday and they were happy to waive the £20. I got the impression it was a regular occurrence.

as said .. above

when you cancel the DD, the Club are informed and email you to confirm..

your membership will still be valid until the annual renewal date

Several years ago I was visiting places specifically to take an interesting bus trip. I'd booked into a CAMC site but arrived just as the last bus of the day went past. So I extended my stay by one day and drove to my pitch. Checking the timetable I discovered that the bus didn't run for another three days so back to the office to cancel my booking.

No chance!

However, after having a moan the Warden informed me that he could possibly transfer me to a different CAMC site for that time period, which is what happened.

Not much help for OP I'm afraid, but you may be able to go somewhere else if you can.

Very easy. I rang last week and after nearly 40 years as a member they didn't give a s... Pure satisfaction to cancel membership to such a modern day money sucking organisation.

That's what I was calling them for but to transfer a booking to two different shorter consecutive bookings.
Only "issue" was original deposit was transferred to first new booking with additional deposit for second booking taken.

I always say to pay on arrival, however this year arrived at site to be told you have paid, was not happy as deposit had been taken from one account and the balance was to be paid from another. Got round it by transferring between accounts once settled, but what if that had made me withdrawn on the original account.
Was told i need to check or uncheck the take balance on the day, showed her the snap shots I had taken of the box saying do not take balance and the email telling me it would be pay on arrival, warden was a s flummoxed as I was.

Used both over the years but don’t use any of them now.

If I need a site I’ll use Pitchup.

The Caravan Club are more accommodating than the C&CC regarding amendments to bookings.

Due to the hot weather, I just phoned the C&CC to switch next week’s booking to another site. They said it can’t be done - both stays would have to be paid for.

Caravan Club allow you to do this 🤷‍♀️

I'm not renewing my membership in October. Only reason I'm in is for the temporary sites (THS), there are a lot less this year but found one in Pickering for this weekend and they are booked up... Useless.

I've stayed 2 nights at THSs this year 😤

hi my advice to you is print & take your bank statement with you when you get on campsite that is prove of payment you made my self i would not pay 2nd time good lock you be ok with bank statement in your hand any hassle just phone your campsite club up in there campsite office carry on camping

Not been a member of either club for a few years now..Can't think of a reason to rejoin..BUSBY.

We recently toured the Yorkshire Dales and prebooked several CAMC sites. Some lively weather led us to change some of our plans at short notice. The site staff couldn't have been more helpful and changed our bookings between sites with no charge at all.
The team at Hawes deserve a special mention. Our step we use for the hab door broke while we were on site. The wardens lent us their caravan step and said if we ordered a replacement on Amazon, they would accept the delivery in the site office. 24 hours later we were ready to move on with a new step.
No complaints from us.

If that were to happen to me I would immediately become an ‘ex’ member.

A couple of weeks back, the weather caused us to change plans.

We had a booking for the Tuesday night at the CAMC Edinburgh site. I phoned the site and asked if I could change the booking to Sunday and Monday nights instead of the Tuesday. Absolutely no problem, the wardens changed the booking and said we'd sort the balance of payment when we arrived. As far as I could tell there was no extra charges.

I think the CAMC and wardens do warrant some praise from time to time.

A couple of years ago my wife got us the membership for cc&c, well she thought she had but had joined C&MC instead. It was the next day I realised and she phoned them up to cancel and explained she wanted to join C&CC  it took 14 days to get money back and they insisted on sending all the bumf even though we weren't interested. My wife still goes camping hence C&CC.
