Canterbury Aire & a razor!

Sorry to those who read break in Kent as break in in Kent!
Whether we add another battery or not really depends on how often we will be off grid. We are not sure that it is likely to be more than an occasional night.
The compressor fridge, as I understand it, only runs off 12v and on an EHU site the EHU charges the battery.
OH is going to find his battery razor, or shave less!
We found the Canterbury Aire absolutely fine. It was very quiet, noise wise. I had expected some traffic noise - but there wasnt any. In fact it was quieter than the CL we stayed at next just outside Sandwich, which whilst not on a main road, you still got road noise.
I would say about 60% of the vans were from overseas - whole mix of countries - D, F, SP, P, Gib, NL.
We didnt need to fill up with water or get rid of grey - the grey drain wasnt nice - covered in toilet waste. There is a sign that says clear up after your self, but no reference to raising the grid - which I read somewhere else you are supposed to do. The rope that should be there is no longer long enough to use.
Each night the overflow part was used which meant there were spaces between the vans on the main part.
The loos in the bus station are open during the time the buses run.

The grid, or rather its misuse, does let down the rest of the site. I have seen the original piece of rope replaced by a strap by a friend. Maybe a chain with a metal handle on would give a better clue to its needing to be removed before cassette dumping.

I am a thousand miles away but is there a regular user prepared to fit such a chain and handle?

I'll be there tomorrow - but no way 😂😂

Its great news to hear it is getting used again and by overseas visitors . We stopped their in august after first lockdown. Five vans on their and three of them were fulltiming . Scary but we got away safely.

That grid has been a problem for years due to people not lifting it and toilet paper hanging from it .here's a quote from my pre -covid trip .
Saturday 6th July 2019.
Set off from home at 10am hoping for a decent run down to Dover , “Big Mistake” only got as far as M6 Knutsford and as i have live traffic on satnav was informed of 50 minute plus delays around Stoke ,decided i would take the old rd of A50/A34 so came off the M6 at Holmes Chapel and re-joined again at Stafford missing all the standing traffic around Stoke ,had a fair run down via M6/M1 with a stop at the services and then when i hit the M25 an update on traffic was informed on another 50 min delay close to Dartford ,I opted for the alternative route the satnav offered and ended up going the opposite way round the M25 down to the M2 for Canterbury (was still quicker than sitting in the traffic and had no hold ups.) Arriving at the Canterbury park and ride i was surprised at how quiet it was with plenty of spaces. After the run down didn’t feel like doing any cooking so we went for a very enjoyable meal in the Old Gate Inn on the edge of the Park and Ride. The addition of an extra tap on the services is new to me as last time i was here there was only one tap for fresh and cassette rinsing .Still had people not lifting the grate to empty the cassette even though there is a webbing to help you lift it resulting in some dirty b***ards leaving toilet wipes dangling from the grate. Fran donned her rubber gloves and removed these and put them in the bin and i hosed the grate down in keeping with my OCD .Spent the Sunday in Canterbury (afternoon tea and scones at M&S is recommended) leaving Sunday evening (cost for the over night and daytime parking and free bus was £7 so very good value)and then parked up on the Esplanade in Dover as we had a late ferry over to Calais.

You could always do what I have done twice and replace the strap. Also contact Canterbury Council and suggest a chain is welded on, again which I have done.
