Can't Believe It Was Hidden From Me...

Thank you so much for your kind wishes but I feel the need to point out my van is not a hobby or a toy, used only at holiday times and weekends whilst plugged into a EHU on a campsite.

It is my home in which I live every day wherever it is parked...

Bloody nice van/ home !👍👍👍Enjoy!

Get your cologne out JJ and have a good spray around, that should mask the smell ... I assume you still use 'parfum de WD40'?

I'm sorry. When I said 'toy', I meant something new to 'play' with and enjoy :) I would even view a new home as a new toy :) I didn't mean any disrespect xx

Nice van

Surprised that no one suggested starting smoking then you wouldn't notice it either. :)

We have a very large fleet of trucks and when u get the keys to a unit...ul always know a smokers vehicle over a non smokers vehicle..the smokers trucks are usually stinking and a mess...don't want to generalise but I'm gonna ...I find smokers are dirty and messy well when It comes to our trucks 🚚

Congratulations on the new MoHo and sorry about the stink. As others have said, it will go in time. Some years ago I was looking for a particular make & model of car, the salesman rang me up and told me they'd just had one come in as a PX. So full of excitement I rushed down there, as soon as he opened the car door to show it to me my reaction was "UGH! It stinks of fags and dogs! I'm not buying that!" Needless to say he wasn't very thrilled with my response and I didn't buy a car from him!

Cracking looking van JJ suits your needs and comfy too. I do remember the old black Iveco, at the time that also was state of the art. Happy travels mucka

I suppose with the smoking being done in the MH there's one benefit ... you won't catch fleas as it's been fumigated!

It took 3 days for me to find out...

Just bought a new to me Burstner Privilege built on a Citroen Jumper base vehicle.

It was thousands and thousands of euros more than any vehicle I have ever bought before. A little bit of comfort for me in my twilight years.

I have driven it for a couple of hundred trouble free kilometres.

What a joy... 2.8 turbo charged muscle, smooth and light power steering, cruise contol, cooling A/C, electrically operated windows and mirrors and so on. Stuff I expect most you all have on your vans but which is pretty special to me!

The dealer and sales lady were most helpful and friendly as you would expect... there was a discount of course and little extras willingly supplied.

Clean?

I should say so... it will never ever again be as clean as it was when I drove it away.

But, unbelievably, this morning I pulled down the flyscreens for the first time in the bedroom area and, as they slid down effortlessly, it hit me.

The unmistakable, disgusting, filthy stale stench of... cigarettes.

The previous owners had been members of that most anti-social of groups... SMOKERS.

I missed the tell tale clues... the air freshener hanging thingy in the wardrobe, the freshly cleaned ceiling and the Daz white net curtains.

Fortunately, given time, my own (delightful) natural ambience will over power the tobacco stink and all will be well.

So, if you are looking over second hand motorhomes you should check for stench trapped in the rolled up fly screens.

(I would have bought the van anyway).

Nice looking home JJ smokers just don't realise the disgusting stench that they leave in their wake.

Presumably the undriveable Hymer was part exchange and you're fully licenced to drive this luxurious beast?
Or was it the Kangoo...

Its a lovely layout

The last car I sold, it went online to a dealer - he sent a bloke down to me on the train to pick it up. First thing he did when he got in it to drive it away was to light up! That dealer's cars must stink, I don't think smokers realise how just a single fag in a car lingers on, the smell gets in all the fabrics.

I bought a car at auction once that I hadn't even had the doors open on, as soon as I got it I opened the doors and the stench of stale tobacco came out, absolutely disgusting. However - a full professional valet, shampooing everything including the head lining, plus some special odour absorbing granules in the ashtray - it was much, much better and after a couple of weeks it was totally gone.

If this van doesn't smell until the blinds come down then it must have been very well cleaned - which bodes well that cleaning the blinds will finish the job off.

Our new to us Hymer had the same problem. We were horrified when we realised. Same thing - dealer had filled it with air fresheners. We cleaned everything and eventually it went. Probably our own "ambiance" and our little dog's farts helped. Happy new home! Mags

Nice van JJ hope it treats you well. Hope the previous owners were severely penalised on their selling price for treating this lovely vehicle in such a way.

Somebody walked into my Conservatory yesterday and said "it stinks of dogs in here" :ROFLMAO: I kicked him out and frogmarched him down the drive. :giggle:

Well done, I’m sure my two would make the house smell even though I constantly clean but they live here so if people didn’t like it they could leave.

Well JJ I had smoked 20 a day for approx 50 years, it’s just a habit I had and would defend then and now the right of anybody to do it if they want, however I had not smoked indoors since we moved to this house 14 years ago, and never smoked in a vehicle for years, 12 months ago on the 30 sept I had my crescendo TIA’s and haven’t touched a cig since, I now find I can smell them from yards away and I don’t like it and realised how I must have smelled of it. I finally got to stop after years of trying but it was a massive fright that made me do it, when my wife of 52 years (54 together) passed in February I still didn’t start again, that’s how I know I’ll never do it again, but I still defend a persons right to smoke if they want to, although I’ll stay as far away as possible.

Posh Wheels there JJ...

This is such a valid point and a message to all smokers “you stink of smoking and it’s very unpleasant “ but many believe they don’t.

l do not entertain anyone that smokes, nipping out for a quick drag and then coming back into company stinking…no thank you.

Congratulations on becoming a non smoker.
