Canoes

Does the dogs claws not worry you with the inflatable or are they really that tough?

The Gumotex kayaks are made from the same sort of material that RIBs are made from; dogs (or cats) claws aren’t going to puncture them.

We recently stayed at the Wyre Piddle CS site and there were lots of canoes/kayaks on the Avon. Not as spectacular as the Lakes, but a lot closer!

I've got a couple of challenger single man kayaks but now thinking of upgrading . Having explored several reviews, I'm favouring the Decathlon ditiwit x500. Seems a bit cheaper than the Gumotex Rush 1 and the reviews seem better. Not decided yet, I need some informed advice to decide!

Yes they really are that tough and importantly easy to look after and put away after use without the need to dry them out. They used to make a lighter weight version of some of the kayaks which had a mix of materials, Nitrolon (the toughest one they make) and Hevalon which didn't have the full 'rubber' coating on one side instead it was more 'flock' like. The Nitrilon was used on the outside of the sides and base where it really mattered with the Hevalon on the inside, the trouble was the flock took a while to dry out but other than that it was still very good.

I've had no problems at all with them being damaged, despite my liking to go between rocks etc for a 'play', some of which can be quite sharp, and when I use it on the sea and need to get back in I just paddle and 'hit' the beach so I get 'stranded' and don't worry if it's shingle, stony, or rough sand as it has never damaged any of them, no marks or punctures.

As for dogs, we've had dogs in our Gumotex kayaks from the start, one dog weighed 25kg, all have jumped in/out without causing any damage at all despite scrabbling all over them at times. I haven't come across any other make of inflatable that I would want instead.

Sorry to drag this up from the near past!!

After much researching, I have decided on the Gumotex Rush 1 with the spray deck cover, bit more money but it seems to fit what i am looking for.

I'm at a stand still as there isn't one in the country! Anyone know about Gumotex and how to buy one would be helpful.

xx
