Can someone find me an LPG garage

Well.... I still don't have LPG :swear:

I drove back today via Morrisons in Chesterfield and they dont have it. Carried on past the house to one on the interactive map and they just sell gas bottles.

I cant believe how rare this stuff is. I thought it was everywhere. Ive been past about 30 petrol stations in the last 24 hours and even pulled into to the services in the M1 between J28 & J29 and even they didn't have it.

I guess once I have my first fill ill be away. But today I give up. Back home and going to relax now.
One giveaway to whether a garage has LPG or not are the signs outside advertising the prices.

it might be useful to ask the local taxi drivers - our local taxi firm all use LPG (well, the ones with non-hybrid cars anyway) and those guys will know where to go.

Which is probably why filllpg is so much better than other sources of lpg information.

I looked at every board approaching. Diesel and Petrol Prices only.
You will find garages that have LPG. Once your tipped up and you have had a few days gas useage ,just top up again when you see another garage selling LPG.we have 2 x 7kg gaslow and just keep one in use and one in reserve.we have mostly always refilled before turning on the second tank ,unless we are off grid parked up for a week plus.

Not all lpg suppliers have forecourts or advertising boards, including your nearest supplier Dave Crofts Motor Services. See picture.

No need to drive around looking for boards that may not exist, easier to look it up on Filllpg and perhaps give them a phone call to check. I often use Google maps satellite image and street scene to check out the location and position of the pump/tank which can be seen in the picture.

Sorry, never been to that one.
I know one side is too narrow for my van, I used to drive up to the next off ramp and come down the other side so I think it must have been Northbound. Not been there for a few years so may have changed, if going further up I often filled at Doncaster services, they used to have good prices, especially so for services but again not used them for a while

Dave croft is expensive, Woodhall services probably your best bet...
Is it worth the longer trip to save 5p a litre? If the op needs say 40 litres of lpg he will save £2 but will probably use perhaps 2 litres of diesel doing the extra 15 miles, which will cost him £2.80.

Here we go again: Cheapest, cheapest!
I'm blowed if I'd bother finding the cheapest LPG in view of how much I'm saving vs Calor exchangeables. When I need gas I buy it wherever I happen to be at the time.
If supermarkets and garages have to keep reducing the price to be competitive and maintain volume (there's little enough demand already for LPG compared with petrol and diesel sales) they'll find it isn't worth the effort or isn't sufficiently profitable. Supermarkets and filling station chains are very sophisticated with stocking decisions on all products so they'll remove the facility and most likely invest in EV charging bays.
LPG powered vehicle engines never took off in the U.K. and BP are already removing the LPG pumps and no doubt more will follow.

If there is a place selling bulk LPG for domestic heating near you then it's worth giving them a call as they may have an LPG pump.

Our local oil and gas depot has one :)

EDIT: Too far away for the OP but it's Johnstons Oils at Newtown St Boswells, Scottish Borders - just off the A68. Monday to Friday. Might be cash only but I don't know.

I don't check the price for LPG as if we need it we need it :)
I don't either if it's convenient, think we paid €0.89 for it yesterday. The Repsol garage at Benidorm sells it so don't even look for anywhere else.
If travelling though I'd look for a cheap one en route, the cheaper garages deserve the custom in my book. I don't owe anybody a living 😊

There's also autotech at Ripley, if you give Kevin a call, he will give you upto date price and if he has stock, yes it will be more than major retailers, but how many miles have you trapped around try to get a cheaper price, often you can not ring and see if they still stock it, and what price it actually is, and even with a drive is more than likely cheaper than getting a calor bottle.

Nooooo 🙄 that would be inconvenient. My time is more valuable. It has to be "en route" as I said above, and it's easy with the apps. 😍
Ah, I didn't realise you were finding the cheapest in advance by using an app. I imagined you were looking at the price on the garage signs whilst driving along .

Got sorted guys. Ended up at the one at Barrow Hill or what ever it was called. 75p a litre but others said compared to Calor prices I don’t over care the price to hunt around.

Took 20litres to fill so I guess equivalent to around a 15kg calor? (Single bottle set up)

My last van used to use a 6kg Calor in 3-4 days when off grid so I assume I’ll use a bottle a week if it’s similar. I only plan to do 2-3 nights at a time on days off currently with other life commitments getting in the way. I’ll just top up as I pass places en-route now hopefully.

That's good even at 0.75p per litre ,an equivalent calor would be £40+.a 6kg calor is around £26.exchange. (y)
