Movano

Seen this, no pics of the electrics and its done a lot of miles but the conversion looks good and the price is also good.

What are your thoughts please?

Anyone with Movano experience? Good or bad? Are they the same as the Citroens, Peugeots etc?

Thanks

It is the same as a Renault- Just different badge. The east europeans drive them all over europe so I wouldn't be worrying about mileage.

Same van as Renault/Nissan/Vauxhall just check different sites for the price comparison for spares under each make, had a Hobby on the same van chassis no problems engine wise at all, the conversion was another matter

Isn't the Movano narrower than a Ducato? And the walls curve in. Even in a Ducato with it's flat sides, transverse beds are only for those of us less vertically gifted.

I'm only 5'8 1/2 and the Mrs is even shorter
My sister looked at one with me, Movano PVC, and a Peugeot Boxer last year before buying a coach built.
The Boxer is wider.
To accommodate a bathroom the Boxer had it behind the drivers seat with the kItchen unit on the opposite side where the sliding door is.

I'm a little bit shorter and I didn't have a ton of spare room across the back of my previous converted Ducato. It really depends on how much wall insulation they've put in. You need to be able to lay flat. Unlike a bed at home, there's no option to hang your feet off the end. Just because a DIY'er has done it, it doesn't mean it's smart. Sprinters are only slightly narrower and they are pretty much universally converted with longitudinal beds.

Couldn't do without a toilet and shower but the price would allow you enough to fit one, nothing wrong with the movano

More thoughts to chew over

the front driver and passenger seats don't swivel.. so no through access ,.. and there are no other lounging seats ..the dining seats wouldn't be great for lounging in ..

It would need remodelled to accommodate a washroom with shower and toilet.

there is plenty of space but In my opinion it's been poorly used..

nor any mention of fresh and grey water tanks.. ..

this is a day van.. with a bed

Yes it's more or less just a van.

Thanks for the Input guys.

I'm going to go and have a look tomorrow. The electrics look a bit of a mess but TBH ive allowed for them to be tidied up either by myself or a professional.

This is our first van so i think we can manage with porta loo for a while as we will probably be using sites with their own facilities (We are used to tenting so anything will be a luxury) :-)

And as someone said if its tidy, it is cheap so does allow me a few quid to sort it out and maybe get a diesel heater fitted and a toilet.

The electrics are all there by the looks of it but are under the small bed at the side of the double. I think i'd prefer them to be in the garage TBH.

What about this? Murvi do a quality conversion. Cab beds can offer another bed over the front seats if needed?

Good spot, I was just thinking it looked a roomy layout 🤔🙄

Like the idea of the table by the bed though, but would definitely want a toilet
Easily sorted. (y) You can keep the roomy layout too.

Both look very uncomfortable to sit in.

The Merc is maybe a longitudinal bed, but the Movano is transverse, make sure you can lie down and stretch your toes with your head on a pillow. You need more length than you think.

Both a poor use of space in my opinion.

Look at the van values, plenty to compare Merc 2012. 121 K miles £6k..Movano APX £7500. Think what you could do have done with the difference, and are you happy paying
that on the type/ quality/ condition of the conversion ?

Yep, that Movano van with 200k is only really worth about 6k max. So that’s 10k for a nicely done but very basic conversion 🤷‍♂️

Check the payload. He has shown the payload before conversion. It will probably be nearer 500kg. I know you and wife are not huge but could soon start taking away from the true figure. Throw in a full tank of fuel and you soon have to keep an eye on what you carry. Insist on a weighbridge report with full fuel a otherwse empty including water and gss cylinder.

There’s so little fitted stuff in that van I doubt it’s used even 400 of it’s 1450kg payload.

Hi again are you limited to a panel van ?
I have just done a search on Auto trader ( under £20k ) and there are 8 Triango tribute van’s, about the same Autosleepers and a good 30 other well known converters vans with mileages from 40 k ish.
If you can use small motor home van then there are a good few Autocruse vans which are not much larger than a PVC along with quite a few other makes. Above 1000 vans with in your budget. Probably around 200 of which would be good for you.

I really think you should look into a self conversion, you get a van that YOU want, that fits your use, and is so much cheaper.
You can get a joiners shop to machine the woodwork and panels, or even buy pre cut furniture kits for sprinters etc.
The electrics can be bout in kits too to suit your needs.
Ours stands us at £10.5k including buying the van, hot and cold water, solar, lithium, full size permanent bed, diesel heating etc.
We have no lounge area as we don't need one, we like being outside under the canopy.
If it's the middle of winter we go walking, to the pub, and just chill out with the tv laying on the bed on an evening, we had to have a swb van due to parking at home but a house move next year means we can get a bigger van which will have a longe area and shower room.
You need a van that suits your use, it's not as hard as you think!
