Is there a way I can get the payment at the end of the stay to come from my registered, default card instead of needing to have a balance on the card?

I thought I’d set it up today but it still insisted on me adding money to my balance on the card before we could leave.
 
Unlike eg Dartford tunnel, French toll roads, CCP does not deduct from your registered card, only from a balance created by your registered card. Never sought to understand why, however, I would prefer it, maybe something they will move to as they grow bigger and bigger
 
General advice seems to be to ring them - usually helpful, and there will be an English speaker. But I think you’ve always had to add the balance to your Pass’Etapes before exiting - we’ve not used a CCP since they changed procedures. You can add the exact amount for the specific CCP if you want.
 
You could probably ring them and ask to pay directly without loading onto the card as they're very helpful, they might be able to assist.
But why would you when it's so simple to use the way they intend ?

The payment at the barrier only comes from your pass card so you have to load it up as required. However, be aware if you load up your pass card and then book a stop over in advance on your app they take the payment directly from your main card and the balance on your pass card remains as it was.

I fell foul of this by loading my pass to stay 5 nights on 2 very popular location's by booking ahead; to find I had the full credit left on my pass card which we were not going to use for the rest of the trip.

You cannot then simply recover monies from your pass card without incurring a transaction fee.

Because I can’t be bothered to find out how to find out exactly how much I’m paying, and so I always end up with some excess euros on it. Given they have a registered card, why not let it be the user’s choice whether to use that or have to transfer a balance to the CCP card?

does really matter if you end up with a couple of euros left on your CCP card , surely you'll be using it again in the future and that small amount left over will be used next time

I need it to put in the gas meter so we don’t freeze over winter. Also, I’m naturally tidy. And it’s a pain in the arse to have to transfer it. Their crap app just sat and span at me today, though luckily the transaction did go through.

My option allows you to do it your way, and me to do it mine, why is that not better for both of us?

a registered card could well be blocked or maxed out to the credit limit or for some other reason the card may not work, with a live balance on your CCP card they know they will get paid .

I joined here in Lorca. paid 15€ to include a card but the machine never issued one. I got three emails from them one to welcome me, one to confirm details & one to confirm the 10€ top up . all different emaill addresses .I enquired about the card, & got no reply. i have emailed 3 times on all 3 email addresses , Nothing.

Im not sure they issue cards now just get a code in the APP?

Does it not tell you in the app how much you owe?

It tells you your balance on the card and the cost of your current stay if you're already on a site - simples

If you're balance is 10 euro and you stay is 12 euro, you need to add 2 euro to escape, I don't see the problem the OP has.
 
What a coincidence as at time of the original post at 0720 I was stuck trying to get out their Saumur site. I managed to get in (as Brits the passenger puts the code in then they add + and a carriage return - there is no + which is more evident if you can see the keyboard). This morning, we managed to put the code in to leave and nothing happened; we tried again and it said goodbye; tried with the card - nothing; checked app we had left. So phoned support - not open until 8 so sat their sending them messages for half an hour wondering if it was worth pulling the barrier down. Called at 8 and got the now obligatory 'high call load - everyone busy' but only a couple of minutes thankfully and the barrier was open with a Gallic nonchalance making the next 45 minutes frenetic to get the dog to the vet.
Lesson learned if you need to leave outside their support working hours and the barrier does not work then...

They could try to charge the card, and then tell you it failed, like any other transaction. I don’t need to put a balance on a card to pay the supermarket, the chemist, the gas bill, the electricity bill and the water bilk - why should this be any different. And once again, why can’t it support both? If you like having to transfer money in each time in advance, then you could do that. But why not let me pay by card directly?

Not sure CCP are for you, plenty of other aires to choose from, rejoin when they realise you are right and they are wrong.
