Camping Car Park - PACK'PRIVILÈGES

I only use them if they are the only option, I think they are too expensive for what they are and I object to paying for services I don't need, like EHU & Wifi.

Maybe they paid and had gone to the shops
Is that not part of the more expensive card
Personally we use them and found them very useful especially for wifi that was good enough to run firestick
They should keep it simple use it or lose it. Leave the site lose the pitch. Simple

No the app was saying it had space. The site was physically full. 12 spaces filled by 12 motorhomes and yet as I was stopped at the barrier waiting to get in the app was still saying 2 spaces.

They do have issues with their app /technology sometimes. We also had a problem where we had paid but the payment didn't register so we couldn't get out and one site where the barrier wasn't letting anyone out. Every motorhome that left had to go through a lengthy process of ringing customer services and they opened the barrier remotely.

I also discovered that some of the sites (maybe all) are run by local organisations (i.e. a nearby next door campsite in one case) and the maintenance of them are down to these local organisations. Camping car park are basically admin/call centre.

Totally understandable. If you don't need EHU or WIFI absolutely no need to use. Unfortunately we had an issue with the gas on our fridge and these cheap stops inc. EHU were invaluable to cool the fridge down every few nights.

Did you get the fridge sorted?

No!!! 8 months now ( actually probably faulty from new just hadn't relealised until June.) Dealer is slow and useless. I rang Thetford and they say it is responsibility of the dealer. Dealer has to get a 'Thetford Specialist' to sort it. Thetford specialists are just other Motorhome/Caravan dealers who don't want to know. I have rung a dozen of them. Answers range from £150 call out fee or investigation fee to we only deal with our customers go back to your dealer. What is the point of a 3 year warranty???

I did have a Thetford guy in Spain look at it and he was great but I was only in that area for a week. He tried everything he could and then contacted Thetford Spain. They suggested the 'spiral' from in the chimney may be missing (manufacturing error) but getting someone to look at it im UK the issue. Getting very fed up. We will have 10 days of grid at Le Mans 24 hour race on June and I need a fridge. Contemplating taking a generator.

I have even spoken to Burstner about this and other outstanding issues and asked if they could get another dealership to take me on. They have 'had a chat' with the dealer and closed my case. Don't see that helping.

hi guys these sites are especially good this time of the year as driving through France to Spain its nice to have the EHU & water as its still on not like most of the French Aires you never know what you will wakeup to in the morning as we did for 5 days . photo not a c/c/park site but an old favourite of ours back in our FLT days as we didn't mind being stuck as it was all free ( NERSAC ) not now it was 10 years ago

May have to threaten the dealer tell him if he doesn't get it sorted you will get the fridge replaced and reclaim from him via the small claims court.
Your contract is with the dealer so it's up to him to sort getting it fixed, not for you to chase around.

CC-P do provide a reasonable sized 'chain' of aires and, considering the provision, is not, despite LennyHB's complaint, expensive. Most are less than a tenner, which compared with the UK and the certainty that you won't be evicted at 2am. seems fair. I'm not against a 'freebie' if available of course but they provide a good fall-back coverage. I'm not sure that the 'add-ons' aren't gilding the lily though.

Camping Car rang me today over another matter I asked what the difference was and the answer I got was

The Privilege option allows you to Book a space 6 months to 2 days ahead and enter/leave the campsite in your during your stay.

With the normal card you cant book ahead its just allows you to turn up and open the barrier.

We wanted to leave a site (non Privilege) and we rang up and they said it was fine to leave/return inside the 24 hours. Sadly it wasn't as they then charged us twice once when we left during the day, and then again the next morning. They did refund eventually but it was a pain.

We will always do the free Aires if possible and we don't require electric Wifi etc.

But at least when you do use these CC-P aires you do get 24hrs for your money and I think thats worth pointing out especially when you compare to campsites when you arrive late and then have to leave your pitch early. This gives you better value for your money.

That is always my gripe especially if you arrive at say 5pm and want to leave at 4 pm the next day. Like Honfluer on the Aire it will cost you €11 on the site €44 if you have to pay for two nights.

We used these last summer and thought they were excellent. We have the privilege card giving us the option to reserve a spot. We used this in some of the popular Aires. The average cost was 12euros, including all facilities and wi-fi. Good value, unless you're looking for free options.

That's how I read it Paul. But others seem to read it the opposite way, can book less than 2 days ahead only with park privileges.
I'm more confused now.
dot com. ok pj.

We are due to go to France on 1st February, for two weeks. We have devised a route (subject to any last minute change of mind) utilising CC-P on all but the first and last nights.

Checking the Aires on their website, looking at the photos and reading the reviews, means that you can avoid “car parks” and find the more attractive ones close to a village or town.

We regard them as good value and , even though EHU is usually 6amp, that allows us to run a 1kw electric heater to help preserve gas supplies in the cold weather. The guaranteed availability of water is also great.

Each to their own choice.

hi we use this one going & coming https://www.campingcarpark.com/en_G...me/hauts-de-france/62-pas-de-calais/merlimont

We don’t normally plan our first night stop but, as we usually take an early morning Tunnel train, we spend our last night at the Calais Municipal Aire.

The “new” one is much improved, hardstanding separated bays with EHU, good security barrier, security lighting and security fencing all around. It feels very safe. Convenient for the Tunnel too.

hi we was one of the first m/hs to stop there when the campsite next door was still being built . but the night security who lives above the office said he chased off thugs trying to steel bikes off the m/h & its had happened before that was 5 years ago & we have never been back that's why we use merlimont
