Hi all, we dont use UK sites very much but have been members of the above club for 20 odd years. Living in Plymouth and about to go to Portsmouth for our Burstner damp check, I thought I would book the Chichester site for the night before to avoid an earlier start. 7.5 mtr van dont need hook up, but only hard standing with hook up for our van 2 adults with age concession £29 for one night surely this is taking the P its the week before half term October so not exactly high season or am I missing something.

Yes, it is incredible low compared to some sites. :giggle:

Cancelled our membership this morning. Too expensive and do nothing if over 9m. Used only one site in 4 years so I'll save my £56 thanks. Don't forget to cancel your DD as they don't.

Yep. been all over this year to date and the best we found was £23 a night all in just outside York and a fantastic site.
This wasn't a CaC site, private site but as good as CaC sites

Get used to it!
The days of the £15 a night CL have long gone.
You can still get on a cl site for under £15 but only if u are not needing electric, showers or any other luxury…

I just booked some time at Abbey wood CAMC site at £29 per night. Quite reasonable for London I thought. Bear in mind electricity costs at this time of the year. Our van is compliant with ULEZ which helps enormously.
Now looking for good theatre deals.

We have had to pay £28 for one night on a pub site, inc of EHU, as it is the only place suitable for an early morning Tunnel crossing.

Prices will continue to spiral until we refuse to pay.

Just to put another angle on things. Have this last weekend stayed at their Walton-On-Thames site for the the unbelievable low price of £9.40 and just 15 miles from London which is a 30 minute train ride away. This was booked mid September and so impressed with this I booked the Saturday as well but had to pay the full £12.52 obviously the age concession was on both prices. We also took advantage of grass non-electric on first price.
Thing I loved about the site was we had to use your on board facilities.
Ray

Wanted to book Keswick site later this month and it was £40 a night for the two of us.
No thanks 😳😳

Just done six weeks in France for a total outlay of 27 Euros on 'sites' and 'services'.

The cost of getting across the water pales into insignificance for those who tell me 'But you have to pay for ferries / Chunnel ..... '

We also stopped in some completely stunning locations - not crammed into car parks like sardines as some would have you believe.

As has been said, If enough pay these prices, why would they charge less??

I choose to live my motorhome life on the continent as a result.

I think the non-electric pitch explains why the price has remained low. CMC will be paying business rates for electric and these will have shot up.

We are in them both, but only for their 5 van sites. Never do club sites unless it’s THS. 👍

Yes you can still get a CS for under £15 and you don’t need showers or any other luxury (maybe EHU) you have everything you need on board…note-you need not you want!

Canterbury Park & Ride is less than a third of that price and is very well located for the tunnel.👍

Just recently had three nights on Cambridge CCC, EHU on hard standing £20 a night excellent site bus stop just outside into Cambridge.

From there we moved on to St. Neots CCC, same setup as Cambridge, just over £21 a night, lovely site on the banks of the Great River Ouse, booked three nights, added a forth.

All prices included our ACR (age concession rate).

We much prefer crossing the Channel, but this was a quick week.

Yes, we normally use it but find the road from there to the Tunnel can be awkward. When travelling in the dark and, especially if it is raining, the road edge can be difficult to spot with on-coming headlights from other traffic.

We like CP&R and the Old Gate Pub too but, with a 6:30am Tunnel crossing we wanted a site closer to the Terminal.

Why not just go to Port Solent?
Hard standing and just on the edge of Portsmouth.
Free to park plus there are a few good places to eat.

Sounds about right, we are paying just under £30 a night at Craigie Gardens Ayr this weekend, very convenient to town, great wardens, we consider it good value at this time of year.

Absolutely.

Not everywhere.. !
I am currently in Newquay and I understand it's already half term here, not all the country has the same week. Maybe that could be a reason..

Spent one night at CMC site at Godrevy last week. The site was half empty and I’m not surprised. Almost £27 in mid October! We spent a couple of nights beforehand at a little CL in the far west of Cornwall. Much more charm and we don’t need facilities so we’ll spend more time there on our next trip west.

I second the Port Solent recommendation. It is a good safe location & you will almost certainly have other motorhomers for company. The only requirement is that you phone Security on 023 9221 0606 to advise them of your intention to stay overnight and give them your registration number.

We were booked to go to Keswick last week but the site has been flooded again; we were told the site was open but 'very wet' so we went elsewhere. The Keswick site fees for 2 'seniors' with EHU was £25 a night.

Is that once over 60 ?
A much more palatable cost. £40 in October is just now way.

Yes I am sure it is over 60.....although I don't think the senior rates apply for high season bookings.
