Hello,

I’m looking for advice from the other side of the fence. I want a campervan.

The thing is that I have access to a family owned huge motorhome. It’s got everything, even a little garage.

Every time I suggest buying a campervan I’m challenged on why I want one. I’m thinking simplicity, mobility, views, access all areas, lack of maintenance...

Each and every time i’m met with “well, that is what the motorhome is like” but i don’t believe them!

“I want to be able to park anywhere” “You can”
“I want to be in the wilderness” “You can”
“I want to be able to go into the towns” “You can”
“I want to be able to get home and forget about it” “You can after a quick loo change”

I’m sure that there are perks to a motorhome, but are they equal in terms of freedom and simplicity as a campervan?

Thanks

Us staying on a motorway service area in France last year. I don't think that size is a real issue personally so if you have access to a motorhome, suck it and see, you won't miss out on much, and at least you can see if you like it?

We prefer lots of space, but what ever floats your boat, despite what some people think, there is no right or wrong van.

Which translates as 'We all wasted our time replying, so don't waste any more'

Correct(y) I will try to help anybody with a problem, signed up member or not but if somebody asks a leading question that is going the way of a conversation I think twice now about wasting my time as a good number don't come back, there again if we ignore all new questions we come across as unhelpful.

No It doesn't. Unless of course you post just for thanks and likes. The information is now there for all to see. That it's been revived means even more people are seeing it and reading others wisdom. That title indexed on google will no doubt get served up in a lot of search results over the years. Not wasted at all. :D

Lot of people spend a lot of time answering these questions for nothing.

What do you want, thanks? Thanks I appreciate it..:D

If people bothered to do a search they would find loads of info

Back in the early days I often pondered about switching off the search function to ENCOURAGE more questions, people ask away and get personalised answers back, they like it, it's friendly and they stick around, in a few years they are answering questions. Show me a forum where you are encouraged to RTFM or to search before you post and I'll show you the tumbleweed. (y)

OK Jim, I should have said wasted our time on the OP, with which Martin agreed, and he is one of the most helpful people - see his work on N&B forum and elsewhere.

We thought we were answering a specific request for help, but we do not seem to have got through to the OP.

It is a bit like a teacher who receives no feedback as to whether the pupil has understood - very frustrating - I know as I live with an ex-teacher.

What does RTFM mean?

Geoff

Now you have compounded the problem with HTH which I also do not understand.

I am not a 'Millenial' using text speak all the time.

It means Happy To Help!

You can't escape acronyms nowadays even in official communications. I find some of these acronyms useful even though I'm a bit of a dinosaur.

Nothing to do with “Millenials” or “text speak”. These are abbreviations in common usage on the internet since the 1970’s. So while you may not be a “Millenial”, you are perhaps a noob ;)

It's interesting to me at the mo as I'm wondering on what to buy a PVC or a coach built after selling my coach built.. I had a trigano tribute to start with and the seating area was at the front and I found it claustrophobic but the one I'm looking at is a a Globecar with a rear lounge.more room to lounge etx

Internet since 1970s - please explain how it worked then.

Oh, you also need to explain 'noob' as I have not seen it or heard it before.

And by the way you did not elucidate on HTH

It worked in pretty much the same way then as it does now; if you’re really interested in the workings of TCP/IP and the other protocols involved, the details are all available on the ‘net.

Oh, you also need to explain 'noob' as I have not seen it or heard it before.
No, I don’t need to do that, thanks.

That’s correct. That wasn’t the point of my post.

The organisation with the most TLAs is the NHS (which is itself a TLA). The problem there is that there is only a limited number of TLAs with many more things people would like them to stand for, with the result that the same TLA may stand for different things according to context. A while before I retired there was lots of advice floating about suggesting they should not be used as there was sometimes confusion. There was a lot of difference between BID (twice a day) and BID (Brought in dead).
By TLA, in this case, I mean Three Letter Acronym, not Teacher Learner Assessment , Top Level Aggregation, Total Laboratory Automation, Temporary Living Allowance or any of the other things it may stand for.
TLAs only really work as a means of communication if the person you are using it to already knows what you are on about, convenient but a lazy and ineffective means of communication.

As an aside the Acronym 'NHS' has 279 meanings according to AcronymFinder.
