Campervan bogged down in Australia

The Ghan still runs, https://journeybeyondrail.com.au/journeys/the-ghan/

We looked into doing it when we were in Oz a couple of years ago, but at nearly $3000 one way for the 2 of us it was a bit much!
I nearly got a little ride on the Ghan for free. It would probably have killed me but it would have saved a few thousand dollars .... The Hilux I was driving would have been written off though....

Anyone know what Emu bobbing means ?. I saw it on a sign in a bar, I did find out what it means.

Several years ago we looked at hiring a Moho intending to go from Cairns to Sydney in it then fly on to Perth but when I worked out the cost I decided to buy an old car and caravan which we did and ended up going right round to Karratha then back to Perth where I sold them for what I paid. Had a fantastic time and saved a small fortune.

For info, the family were rescued by helicopter after 4 days ... it seems that the temperature was hitting 40°C + but the access and egress routes were still flooded so they couldn't drive out.

We were interested in an Aussie road trip NW Australia around the Kimberly area. Locals told us it was not for the faint hearted. You can go 500 miles to the nearest gas station in some areas, we just don't understand the remoteness.

The Kimberley's are on our itin for our next trip to Aussy.
So much to see in and around without actually going into the outback.
The remoteness is one of the reasons we go to Aussy for.

Again, each to their own.

The article said that the Challenger plane took off from "Essendon" to drop emergency supplies.

As Essendon is Melbourne second airport I wouldn't want to pick up the tab for aviation fuel to "The Simpson"
