Also no booking. Just turn up.

Since April 1846 but have always camped.
Just booked 4 nights at Plassey, £197. 12th Aug to 16th.
It was considerably cheaper than Eye Kettleby Lakes.
Can understand why people seek out the free spots.
Crikey! How much is Eye Kettleby lakes then? Couldn’t find a price.

Crikey, what bells and whistles do you get for that?
at Plassey, great views decent facilities, indoor pool, small arcade of "stall holders" pub on site, golf course,
and in july, plenty of the little lovies lobbing frisbees and footballs at your van

is decent though

could be worse, bron y wendon up the road at llandullas north wales, same price or more, no facilities except shower block, tbf is pretty quiet there and great for coastal walks, bike rides to llandudno etc

We are going to try the camping and caravan club pop up sites next week for the first time.

Recently I’ve been seeing various references to ‘pop up sites’, presumably you’re going to a THS (Temporary Holiday Site)?

Which one(s) are you going to?

If you’re not aware, they’re all listed on the Out and About App.

Best part is you don’t have to book either so can go with the flow.
Corbridge is very handy for Newcastle and an expensive trip to the club shop :ROFLMAO:

In 40+ years, mainly off-grid with a motorhome of one sort or another I've never toured in the U.K. but I joined the C&CC last year as their (proper) site was conveniently right next to a motorbike event that I was attending. I only used my membership on that one occasion.
I've considered trying their THS's but the ones I've looked at have tended to be on rugby pitches or school car parks/playing fields and I really don't fancy being lined up in the middle of a mass of m/homes in an urban location.

My first tiny Bedford Bambi (£550) was 3.6m long - almost as high as it was long! 35 years ago...........

Just back from CCC in Keswick..
Last minute cancellation and only there cause we had a Function in Keswick..
3 nights....£ 168.15.... Mrs Poppycamper had to resucitate me.... and that was for two both with Auld Fud Rates...
Apparently we saved £ 50.00 from normal rates.... won't be back...
THS's rule.. OK.👍👍👍

As said it’s on the out and about magazine. I only found it today. Could be a game changer for me
With some if the more popular THS it pays you to ring the stewards to check if there is space, I've never not been able to get a pitch, but a few, usually on full facility sites say you need to book and pay a deposit. We are on one at Beadnell at the moment, it's very busy but still spaces available.

Much easier to download the App.

Not sure where you’ve been looking but many are out in the countryside.

camping and caravanning since a kid. New to motorhomes
After just coming back from Italy and staying in hotels I would happily pay £50 a night for a pitch😳😳😳😳
Yep Italy can be very expensive. Happily whilst I have been many times it’s ways been with work and of course at their expense. 😂😂😂

At the end of the day, many site in the U.K. are expensive compared to mainland Europe but if it suits you and you like the site and you can afford it then the price is immaterial in the grand scheme of life.
Enjoy 🥳🥳🥳
