Camera position and MOT

I used to have a 24" HD telly on the dash :)
Hi.
Yes but THAT was AFTER your emergency stop while taking your driving test.......... DOH!!!
Tea Bag;)

High risk of that setting fire to something in the van I would have thought, depending on focal length.

I have one on my present van for the last year ,and previously on other left hookers .
No fires top r/h of passenger window and a whole lot easier/cheaper than cams .

For what it's worth the DVLA examiners for goods vehicles will issue a fail if there is anything partially obscuring the screen. That includes dash top table about 18" wide and a Tomtom placed in the allegedly only legal position, bottom r/h side of windscreen.

Yet, the old bill in Norfolk are adamant that any haulier of abnormal loads (we transport boats) should have at least a 3 camera system. 1 on each side to see down the side of the load and one at the rear of the trailer. Now, bearing in mind that we carry loads of up to 14'6" wide, where are we supposed to put cameras to see down the side of the load. Answer: on the pull out marker boards. Now, to see the images from said cameras we need a screen placed on dash board and guess what? The truck would fail an MOT for obscuring the windscreen view.
So in order to comply with plodsky, we have to contravene C&U regs with regards to roadworthiness.

No matter where you put cameras and on what vehicle, no doubt you'll be breaking some law?
