3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
Which is the quickest/easiest campsite to access Central London?

If you’re just planning a quick visit for a specific event, then why bother with the hassle of taking the MH? However, its a destination like no other and worth combining with 3 or 4 days or longer to explore some of what London has to offer. That’s when taking the MH makes sense as a cheap & flexible ‘hotel’. Both sites fit the bill perfectly and it’s a real shame Crystal Palace is going. They’re both like a little green oasis in the urban sprawl but Crystal Palace was my preference given the variety of lively pubs, restaurants and independent shops. It is a great place to wind down in the evening after a hectic day in London. Abbey Wood by comparison is dull, but ideal if your requirement is just somewhere quiet and safe to sleep.

To be honest - while in theory it's not far from Milton Keynes to London in practice I find it a pain. Say you finish a night out in
London a 10pm. You have to get back to Euston - 10.30pm. Then you have just missed a train. 11pm. Then you get the slow train - 1 hour 20 mins. Stops at 10 stations of places in never new existed between London and Milton Keynes.(Bushey, Apsley, Cheddington ????) Plus it's full of drunks. 12.20am arrive in Milton Keynes. Now I have to get home 40 mins walk or £15 for a 10 min taxi ride. Over the years I have really got fed up of it.

Just thought a ride back to the motorhome might be a bit more relaxing.

It's safe enough at night walking from the train station to the campsite at Abbey wood as well.

National Express coach from home and stay with my daughter in Putney looks like the best option for me. Buses Overground and Tube at the end of her road.

Took me that queing to get off the A2 last time :giggle:
The M2/A2 is one of the main arteries into and out of London
Avoid the rush hours!

In infamous traffic report of "....and the Blackwall Tunnel is backed up to the Sun in the Sands..." is a few miles beyond the Abbey Wood slip road.

Elizabeth Line runs until midnight.
Last train from Cannon St/London Bridge is at 00.25

The Jubilee line to Greenwich runs 24x7.
and then the night bus back directly to the site.
So even if you did miss the last Elizabeth Line and the last Thameslink train you can still get back
(You won't mind that the entire carriage is drunk, as by that time in the morning you'll be joining in with the sing-song as well)

If you want to make it a real all nighter, services start again on all lines at 5am.
