Calling all Carthago owners or anyone with Carthago knowledge

We have recently purchased a Carthago Compactline 143. Like a lot of German motorhomes it doesn't have an oven. I have seen photos with ovens in but not close enough to see the make. I have spoken to a couple of Carthago dealers but they have been unable or unwilling to tell me where I might get one. They are quite small as only take the place of one kitchen drawer. I have found a grill only but that would not meet our needs. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks.

Hi stevewagner

Did you get this sorted? I too have just bought a new to me 143 compactline and like yourself need a gas oven due to being a Flt so mains electric is mostly a no no.

Have you any Solar Panels on yours? I have none at the moment and that will have to be priority no 1 when I take delivery.
Hi Barsteward

I'm taking it to a Carthago servicing agent in Chichester next Monday for them to have a look and advise me. I fitted a solar panel and a satellite dish on mine over the weekend and am pleased with how it all went. Our Carthago was prewired for both which made the job much easier.

Looks a really neat job, impressed! (y) Due to the taxman It Looks like it will be the end of August before i will take delivery and the salesmen have very little knowledge about specific models, could you tell me if yours has a tv aerial? I have the Carthargo TV and what seems to be a tranche of wiring but the salesman couldn't find an ariel? (strange).
What is your setup for the solar panel? and where is the pre wiring? does it charge the vehicle battery? sorry but getting a bit excited now.

What model year is your Compactline? The 2019 models have DVB-2 reception (the current tv broadcast standard) included in the standard packages which presumably means there is an aeriel somewhere.

Think you will find that the small whip antenna fitted to the roof supples a signal to both radio and TV.
You can just see the antenna on stevewagner photo, forward of his solar panel and small roof light.
On our C Line the TV reception is quite good.

Thanks Pausim,
That seems about right with the ariel, I'm sure the TV is factory fitted. That's what I mean about salesman:rolleyes: In his defence though he said he had only been selling motorhomes for 4 month.

Mines 2017..October the 143...sure I'll be asking one or two more questions when it arrives;)

There is a small digital aerial on the roof but I haven't tried it. The pre-wiring is all in a pull off wooden flap above the fridge/freezer.

But the 5v power supply to the signal amplifier has to be switched on on the TVs menu for it to work.

How do you get to the point in the menu to find where to switch the 5v supply on?
Tried e-mailing Alphatronics - no reply - been trhough all the options in the menu but can't find it? Any pointers in right direction much appreciated

The Alphatronic tv our Carthago came with and the Avtex we replaced it with both had the 5v option in the set up side of the menu I think it was. It’ll be there somewhere.

I’ve just come across this discussion - we were struggling with the terrestrial tv signal on our C Tourer, until we found that the signal amplifier had somehow got turned right down. Just a small rotary dial, the amplifier on ours is under the side seat below the pull-up tv.

Thanks for that - will take a look at some point - we use the sat dome and avtex but I know there is a coax at the side of the tv

Configured the tv to power the aerial and it has a perfect signal

I have now found out that the oven they fit is a Smeg FO 211GT but it would me a lot of pipe re-routing underneath!

The one in our new Compactline says Dometic on it but I could not see a model number.

As far as I can tell it’s a Dometic 460530490-90-20. Simples!

Hi thanks for that. They should have given you a manual with it which would have the model number
I expect the manuals will be handed over when we take possession on 20 August. The motorhome had only been with the dealer for a few hours and much of the documentation arrives separately via courier for greater security.

You can’t go wrong with Darren/Chris at Relience. When you drop in book in your service fir next year. Their books fill up very quick and leaving it say 4 months from when you need it you will struggle

You don't need an oven. We took ours out of our Carthago and sold it on Ebay. We manage much better with an air fryer, a Remoska and an induction hob. We also have cooking equipment for outside, when in Spain.

Yes ours was rubbish. My better half took it out and fitted another drawer instead, which is more use. I keep the Remoska in there. I regularly cook with the Remoska, there are all sorts of things you can cook in it. My favourite thing is a whole chicken, which comes out very well. We have roasties done in the air fryer and veg and then the next night, chicken and chips with salad.

With gas being in short supply, we can now cook entirely with electric. The new induction hob we have is brilliant.

Unfortunately ours is part of the tec tower which is a load of rubbish🤷‍♂️

As you can cook entirely on electric, is that ehu dependant, or have you got a great battery/solar set up?

Not so good if your off grid

We have an inverter, which the Remoska will run off. We still have the gas hob.

We do off grid, regularly. In the summer I cook outside. As mentioned, we still have a gas hob and the Remoska will run off the inverter.
