Well I got Autogas 2000 to fit Gaslow bottles including a bbq point for under the awning. Was looking for a gas bbq but seen the cadac 2 cook and thought that might be a better idea, then saw the campinggaz stove with grill and now don’t know what to get! Anyone with experience of either?

I’ve just bought my first gas grill, a Cadac 2 Cook 3 Pro. Can I use it straight on a table top or do I need some sort of heat protection mat underneath?

Straight on a table top, it has an air gap underneath.

I bought this Camping Gaz Kitchen 2 Grill and Go in Go Outdoors for £115 about 3 weeks ago.
I was looking at the Cadac 2 Cook while there.

I opted for the Camping Gaz unit as it was a better build quality, had 2 separate ignition buttons and quality carry bag. It was also cheaper.

So easy to use - allowing the option to use the standard burner for a pot and the hot plates lift off to clean making life easy at clear up time.

Recently bought the Cadac pro cook 3, to replace my pro cook 2 slightly bigger I think, also as a removable ring for using a mokka coffee pot, also removable wind shields and handle for griddle plates, the carry bag looks more robust and as plastic guards to stop the griddle plates getting damaged, also noticed the brand name now says Cadac Dometic on the outer casing.

We love our Cadac. Not sure which one it is though. It comes with two rings and two hot plates that can be used instead of the rings. The hot plates are very good for fish, prawns etc so it substitutes for a bbq as well. We tried the usual bbq one with extras and didn't get on with it, found it too fiddly, but this is fantastic when you can set up an outside kitchen.

Can someone explain to me the difference between these things and the hob in my van. Just looks like a portable gas ring to me.
You’re right, they’re just portable gas grills. I don’t really like the smell of cooking in my van, so I’ll use mine outside, hopefully in fine weather!

As much as I love the smell when cooking a full English🤤🤤 it gets a bit much when cooking in the van you can still smell it days later😁😁

Cadac 2, versatile, lightweight and easy to store. Its an all-round winner.

Lot to like about the Cadac Chef 2 but never got the piezo ignition to work despite Cadac sending replacement parts. Have since upgraded to Cadac 2 Cook 2 Pro and no such problems. Bag isn’t very robust though.

First off your cooking on a hot plate and it's nice to be cooking outside and not splattering the van walls, hob and carpet with fat and food juices. (y)

Much nicer to use it outdoors when its 32+deg. In the shade. Hobs make it proper toasty indoors!

I have an external gas point I'd like to use, but don't see the point in having a BBQ cooker that is not a BBQ, just a griddle that you could use indoors.
My view too, IMV they are a bit of a 'must have' item that some people buy without thinking about what they really are, basically a burner with a griddle plate, not a BBQ.

Errr, ... Let me think ... Nope not much difference. The only thing I can come up with is that they can usually get hotter than your hob so if you like to burn food quicker they are ideal! 😄
