In past years I have taken pot luck when motorcycling and shared a cabin with strangers on the old Hull-Zeebrugge route. Given cabin costs of £92 each way I rang P&O yesterday to check whether that facility might be still available. Apparently not BUT they did say that they could accommodate two MoHos with the drivers sharing a two birth cabin. So if you are travelling solo and using that route it might be worth a shout on this site to try and double up with another MoHo owner for the journey either one or both ways. Better still if you already have plans to travel in convoy and have yet to book give them a ring to avoid separate cabin costs.

I am returning to the P&O Hull route as an experiment after carefully analysing cost benefits. I did not like the way they treated their crews but there is no point in cutting my nose off to spite my face!

PlacidoD I live a few miles from the ferry and used it all the time to Zeebrugge when it ran but have more recently used BF to Spain. Can I be cheeky and ask what you compared re costs and directions and your findings.

I used to have many friends working onboarding, from Captain down, so used to get discounts but not any more with the new owners. I think times are different these days.

Can't help but mention of the crossing, Hull-Zeebrugge brings back memories. I travelled several times on that route on the doomed Herald of Free Enterprise when she was working that crossing. :(

I remember the disaster well & couldn’t believe what I saw of the practice of sailing with doors open. We would never leave the birth if even a hatch lid was open, so ingrained was the ship safety in all of us, I couldn’t believe what they did.
