I apologise in advance if this post is a little off subject of Motorhomes. I’m retired (best job I have ever had 👍). I hold a C1 driving license. I heard that ‘Boris’ was sending out letters to people who hold a C1 license, asking if they could help out in the UK to drive upto 7.5 tonnes vehicles to deliver goods. As much as my retired life is ‘as busy as hell’ if I can help I would like to do so. Has anyone else got any more information?

Although lots of us have C1 licences, driving a loaded 7.5 T vehicle is a different ball game.
In 1990 I drove a 7.5t curtainsider in Northampton for 6 months , just like a big van , no training just jump in and go.

Though I did make the local traffic report when I got lost , drove down a dead end street, had to reverse back out only somebody had parked a car opposite the junction so I had to do a 25 point turn to get out causing traffic chaos

Nowt to do with parting with money, it’s been brought in to make sure drivers are up to date and you have to do it end of so live with it.
Yes but happily we live in a democracy so we can challenge it.
I regularly use my Class 1 licence and talk to a lot of other drivers, some company drivers like it because its a skive but and you are the only supporter I have ever met

They need a class C, same as the old class 2. They can’t however drive commercially for profit unless they have a CPC and Tacho and so can’t be delivery drivers without further training.
Exactly the same as me (para with a C now retired) in the ambulance service. The major incident vehicles required class 3 (at the time) exempt tacho and drivers hours. Now C but still exempt tacho drivers hours and dcpc. Most of the new ambos are C1 which leads to some over 70 paras and technicians having a medical, down graded to patient transport or retiring.
