C&CC are so frustrating 😖

Without reading all the rules the principal of a club should be to offer a benefit to it's members before the public. Do you feel this is happening or could you get the same, or better, treatment from a commercial site.

Christ I stayed in a farmer's field last night and loved it......more farmer's fields from now on...my wife has just confessed she cringes when I book CCC. She mentions how I can drive through torrential rain, down single track lanes and have to reverse back up, get stuck in traffic jams and be cheerful and upbeat......but she dreads us driving into the CCC site :unsure:

What else would you call it.
How about "Soroba Camping and Caravanning club site". Much closer than Oban.... Ooo Noo wait a minute that won't do, will it.. nobody has heard of Soroba.
🤕🤕🤕

So many C&CC sites are miles from anywhere. Top Tip, Google maps shows where they are. Easy to check when booking.

As a singleton I find the pricing easy to follow, and often very competitive compared to CS.

I've used the C&CC sites multiple times in the last three years having got my van. No issues with any of the wardens. All seemed friendly, cooperative, willing. Perhaps it's the way they are approached?

Only one site I wouldn't go back to, Slindon, Sussex. All grass pitches without ehu were permanently shaded useless when you'd need solar.

It’s absolutely nothing to do with solo campers, it’s about highlighting a low price which in the majority of cases will be wrong. It would be just as easy to show a reduction for a single person.
You are the one who made it about solo campers in your post at #2. To me it seems perfectly logical to start at the lower price and build it up from there. It is only a problem if they are hiding the add ons, which they don’t.

If you do not like "club" sites don't use them
Simples
I have used sites that cost £45 or more a night and ones that are £4 a night
If it is where I want to be I am happy
I payed a stupid amount of money for a tin box on wheels why get bothered about the cost of a site or if they are part of a club?
I may claim to be a poor pensioner but I can afford to run and fuel a van and I expect to keep my home warm over the winter.
I'm not happy about the costs but I know there are people out there that are really going to struggle big style next winter.
If all I have to grump about is how close I need to park to a peg it is really small fry.

We've been generally happy with club sites, there are some fantastic wardens who'll give you good information about the local area and are really friendly and helpful.

For us, it's just a shame we can't camp as a family group unless we turn up together (from opposite ends of the country) or are lucky and no-one takes the adjacent spots (hard in busy periods) as you can't have the first one to arrive "claim" an adjacent pitch. CLs tend to be far more flexible that way.

We have used a few C&CC sites, and as members have got a discount.

I renewed this year, don’t think I will bother next year.

We find the CS places a bit expensive as they tend to have facilities we don’t use. It’s useful if we are desperate but then we don’t tend to be desperate often if at all.

The sites are nice and in some good locations but damn they can be expensive. Tried to book an economy grass pitch at Bala a few weeks back as wanted a lie in and not rush off. For me, wife and 2 kids, it was £48 for the night excluding electric. 😳

At those prices they can get stuffed, we stopped at Rhug and all had breakfast for £20.

I have now noticed they have a 430 day booking policy......so now I can never book in advance as it's well noted the Best sites are booked 'just in case people' fancy going. It gets more frustrating....yes prices are extortion.....but it's gone now...I move on

Oban CCC site is ONLY 13 miles from Oban..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We camped at Oban for many years on a lakeside with a restaurant and gorgeous views and a camp bus service into Oban some 2 Miles away. We were at Ganavan Sands campsite. Now a housing complex, shame....

We left the CCC because it insists that on almost all pitches we oay for electricity that we don't use and at the same rate as those people who have much bigger vans and many motre electrical appliances, including some with air conditioning. In my opinion ( not that it's worth much to the CCC) this is socially, economically, and morally unjust!

See the recent thread about recharging EV cars.

As several campsite owners have pointed out, fitting metered electricity bollards at over £1,000 each does not make economic sense.

However given the cost electricity will be a year from now, and the fact that the newer vehicles will be using considerably more electricity they will need to install metered bollards sooner or later.

So far I only know of one UK site that has metered electricity.
However almost all Stellplatz in Germany have metered electricity, so it can be done and the economics can make sense

yes you obviously got great service and i dont like to generalise all wardens are bad .But why is it against the rules to get two pitches together? Lots of people travel together or arrange to meet friends on one site we wasnt allowed to have hab doors facing even though we had our grandson with us
I believe it’s to discourage groups getting together and becoming boozing rowdy yobs (Funster Meet 😈😈😈)

Seriously though we stopped at an Independent site near Silverdale and they permitted groups, but they had the biggest Scottish Security guy wandering the site after 8pm, he kept everyone calm and peaceful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
