Hi All
We are travelling from Dieppe
to Portugal, Can anybody tell us the Safeway to pass through
Or passed Rouen emissions zones without hitting them heading to sees for our first evenings stop over Our 2.5 ton
V class camperVan is 21 years old now you see!!
We are trying to keep to motorways as much as possible!!

Thanks James

That’s the route we take. Aim for Yvetot and follow the D131. It’s a good road through a pleasant area with convenient supermarkets and a good AIRE at La Mallerais if a stop is required.
Thanks 👍

Another option is to take the free ferry crossing at dupois.

Wont be quicker but it will be more scenic

We went the quickest route having had it clarified from tourist office it was ok to go over the bridge. (But in newer motor with no crit air certificate) search in here for "Rouen tourist information"

I go through Rouen and have done so for many years, but in heavy traffic it is very easy to get 'diverted' in the wrong direction! Also crossing the Industrial Area can easily take 45minutes if you hit it at the wrong time.

Strongly suggest following the previous suggestion of going the the Yvetot /D131 route, I don't know why I don't follow my own advice perhaps I have a thing about the cows' on the Roundabout?

A more direct route that skirts the "zone" and heads more or less due south is as follows:-
N27, A151, A150, N1338, N338, N138. West on A123 for a bit to either peel off on the D438/N138 which will take you down to Le Mans/Tours or, stay on A13 until you reach the A28 junction heading south. At Tours, the A10 will take you all the way to Bordeaux.

It sounds complex but they more or less run into each other. My TomTom was on the ball and it was a trouble free route.

NB. I'm a cheapskate and avoid tolls.

I think you will find that your route is no longer available to those of us with older vehicles.
Unfortunately, finding a definitive map is proving beyond me :(

These are the 13 communes that will be affected from 2022:
  • Amfreville-la-Mi-Voie
  • Bihorel
  • Bois-Guillaume
  • Bonsecours
  • Darnétal
  • Déville-lès-Rouen
  • Grand-Quevilly
  • Le Mesnil-Esnard
  • Notre-Dame-de-Bondeville
  • Petit-Quevilly
  • Rouen
  • Saint-Léger-du-Bourg-Denis
  • Sotteville-lès-Rouen

A suggestion to Wayz perhaps, they seem very accommodating...

Cheers

I’m struggling to get a definitive understanding of the Rouen scheme. I have a category 2, Euro 6 CritAir sticker. Does that mean I can freely pass through Rouen with no charge?

Dieppe - Rouen - Louviers N154 - Evreux - Dreux then on down towards Chârtres and Blois etc. Before picking up signs for Cahors, Toulouse and Spain, our destination was north of Narbonne.
We were traveling this route regularly in the 1980s/90s when the A20 was being built in sections.
This was eventually our favoured route on the motorway around Rouen, having realized that we never seemed to take the same route!!

I passed through in July with the same category 2 critair and plan to return same way going home through Rouen this weekend.
I believe the problems start if you are 3 critair and above.

That's the route we always take..done it 6 times...it puts about 45 mins on the journey, providing of course the route through rouen is open, ( no accidents)...we have done rouen twice and both times held up because of crashes..
I would always do the route from dieppe to totes..across to yvetot then south to bourg achard then onto A28...
For me its worth the diversion...

Yes. The upper limit now is Crit Air 3 which will be lowered to Crit Air 2 from January 2025.

I'm not sure if it was 'my route' that you were referring to. It definitely does not encroach on the' zone'. I did manage to find a map online and zoom in to fairly close detail. I'm afraid I can't remember the web address though.

I have no idea if my route mentioned above goes into the CritAir zone since I have not driven that way for 20 plus years!! Hopefully the signposting is better and more legal than the UK appears to be.

The enforcement is by Police but they expect to have intelligent cameras by 2024. These cameras do speed, seat belts and mobile phone use as well. Could be interesting if the co- pilot is on the ph9ne (RHD vehicles).

We used Lenny Bs route in May. N27 down to bc A151
A150 and N1338 and N138 sign posted to A13

We were heading into Brittany and love the Pont Normandie but from A13 hit any direction south
A13 not expensive

Didn't know France had emissions zones. I've been driving everywhere for years in a 30 year old van including Rouen

Low emissions zone in Dunkirk apparently and thousands of Brit vehicles driving through it on the way to the ferry or the hypermarket each day
