Buying spares from Germany

Difficult to do sometimes.

I use Makita battery kit for work.
Printed on the machine Made in China 🤷‍♂️

18v batteries exactly the same 🙄
Totally agree, but I'm still trying.

Incidentally there is a Makita factory less than 20 miles from me.

Steve and Denise progress report as promised, I've got a link on my phone to pay the import charges to UPS, only trouble is the link won't work, I suspect the problem is its been input with a space. Will get on the phone later.

Didnt know you lived in China 😉😊

Only 1% difference in Vat an providing any agents charges aren't too high when shipping direct, with the cost of shipping from NI it would probably be more expensive.

My son was well ripped off buying bike parts from EU - on top of charges which included ‘all fees and shipping’ about another 50% was added by the carrier - buyer beware

And that’s why I didn’t hit the buy button when the sellers couldn’t give me a final cost to me. (y)

Ive just paid UPS £155.49 , By my calculation the german vat element ( that I wasnt charged)should have been 160 euros.
The tracking says that they re still in Germany at the moment but apparently due to be delivered on Thursday

I have contacted UPS to try and find out about customs costs but they say I have to contact customs in the eu so still no further on cost ☹️

Does that include UK VAT?

That's key, avoiding the local VAT from the sellers side otherwise you'll be paying VAT twice and once is bad enough...

The car parts arrived from Germany today at no extra cost. I can only assume having VAT on the receipt meant there as nothing more to pay.
The part is only 8” long but the box was about 2 ‘ long and rammed full of padding.

Yours should surely be the same arrangement as mine, as far as I'm aware I've not been charged the German Vat but have now paid the UK Vat and a service charge.

That will be good if that’s the case see if there is any more charges upon delivery, hopefully not.

So here they are a day early. The driver initially asked for the £155.49 again but when I told him I had already paid it he gave a sigh and said they're always doing that, so haven't paid anything more
