Burstner 690G
Exp
Since 2015
I have a Burstner Harmony 690 g just over 3 years old and i have a Water Leak from the forward hatch above the driver and passengers .
I went on the Burstner web site and obtained a list of dealers and phoned two of them The motorhome Depot at Redditch and The motorhome depot at Wythall both of them refused to undertake the work saying 1/As i did not buy the Motorhome from them and 2/they cant take any more work.
I explained that i bought my motorhome from Becks Great Yarmouth in Feb 2019 and they ceased trading about 12 months later they both refused to undertake the work.
I have had the habbitation checks each year to comply .
Is this leak expensive to repair as i would pay for the repair myself rather than have all this hassle.
Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

If they are so busy they can’t take anymore work, what do you expect them to do?

As for not buying from them that’s standard in the industry, some don’t like it some understand why, but their too busy anyway so it’s academic

Who did the habitation checks for you? Use them

Just a question, but are Motorhome Depot actually true Motorhome dealers with full workshop facilities etc?
I thought they were just an on-line platform for motorhome sales, sold on a similar basis to that of an Estate agent for houses, but for vehicles.
I could well be wrong, and maybe there are 2 sets of companies using the same trading name, but with differing profile activities?

Burstner state a 10 year water ingress warranty for motorhomes after 2019, which by the sound of it yours falls into.
This will be subject to annual habitation and water ingress checks, which if has been done, probably has to be a Burstner dealer, but check, you could be covered.
In which case you would need to contact Burstner and explain the situation and ask what their solution would be to resolve this , at their cost.

If you go to Broken Link Removed you will see a red box bottom right of screen. Click on that and put in your query. It will come back with a couple of possible answers, but go to the bottom where it says 'Leave us a message'. Hope this helps.

I would contact Burstner direct with a complaint just to see their reaction.
Another alternative is try Cannock Resprays who do insurance and some approved dealer work. See what cost is and if you or them can claim back off Burstner.
Good luck.

Try these guys. Always really helpful when we had a Burstner.

I think the problem may be that Burstner won’t pay much to have warranty work done.
Thanks will give a call tomorrow Mon

I'll name and shame another dealer up his own foo foo valve.
I rang Tamar Caravan Centre in Plympton, Plymouth to remove and replace a Tech Tower fridge/freezer with attached new oven.

They rather haughtily said, and I quote "We don't repair motorhomes that are more than ten years old"

I wrote to the Chief Exec to complain and he confirmed that whilst it was their policy, he suggested I ring back when they weren't so busy in say November.
I pointed out that the van would be another year older by then, it would still be more than ten yrs. old and what did he expect a customer to do to keep things cool in the intervening period.
Lastly, I pointed out that I was not expected his Mob to repair anything. I was expecting them to remove a unit and replace the whole thing at a cost to me of thousands. His loss was another, newly opened repair places gain and they were less than two miles away.

I can beat that.
A Fiat Professional garage told my friend that they couldn't work on his 5 year old Hymer as they didn't have the diagnostics to work on such an "old" vehicle.

The thing is, whilst you are still trying to get Burstner to sort it, it’s still leaking and causing damage. That’s why I said take it somewhere else not necessarily a Burstner dealer.

If it is the curved skylight over the cab, best of luck as they are useless. The best solution is to bond the acrylic in with sikaflex or similar as they continue to flex and leak

It should be a very simple, straightforward repair that, take it to someone else, not necessarily a Burstner dealer.
I am told by my local Motorhome Dealer that taking to someone else would invalidate my warranty

It will need to be a Burstner approved workshop to maintain the warranty and there are some independent ones around. An email or phone call to Burstner would clarify this

Not sure if you are sorted now?
If you are able to do this repair it is quite simple. If as I read it, its a small roof light above the cab area it will be held in place by screws from the underside which are covered by a plastic surround that holds the blinds. This surround will be held by metal grab clips, so it will pull off.
Undo the screws and remove lower inside part of roof light.
Then from the top the main roof light will ease off the roof with gentle persuasion with a flat pallet knife or plastic tools or similar.
The sealant as standard is a none setting tape seal. This is used to help expansion and to make removal easier if Brocken etc (In the past I've even reused the tape by rolling into worms)
Or you could do it the easy way and use some Puraflex 40 by Everbuild (toolstation sell it in white or Black )(Made by Sika) and just clean around the outside edge and run a bead around. Be aware if you remove the rooflight and bond it completely with the Polyurethane it will be a bugger to remove if needed to later.
Hope this helps.

You are quite right i have had the habitation checks carried out by an Approved Workshop Dealer because the dealer i bought the Motorhome from ceased to exsist and Burstner Germany have informed me that its a non-compliance therefore i now dont have a 10 Warranty for ingress of water . I AM GUTTED.
