enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
I have been trying to help meanders secure a venue for the New Year and thought i had 'cracked it' with this one, however staffing difficulties over the New Year (who actually wants to work over the NY period !!) BUT they have suggested they could potentially accommodate an event for Burns Night as its in their 'closed' period, the last link shows it pretty much as it is now

The whole site is classed as a museum and is still under renovation and they have offered a guided tour/presentation.

They have never hosted a motorhome or caravan rally, so this would be a first for them and i can ssure you its very interesting locarion, the main downside being that the local pub is around a 25 minute walk through the fields apparently. I have added more details below (of course cost is an issue) depending on levels of interest but as an indication with 30 motorhomes it would be under £20 per night, plus the cost of the Burns Night meal. Sunday lunch is also being offered ......

Friday 24th January : Arrive to park up – after 12pm.

Mess is open from 1400 – 2030hrs with a selected menu, as well as hot and cold drinks

Saturday 25th January: Mess opens from 1000 for Regular Service until 1530hrs.

1000hrs – Curato-led tour of the site, to take in at least three exhibitions and two hangars of aircraft.

Full sit-down 2/3 course dinner (not included) for a set price per head at 1900hrs, followed by Coffee (Bring your own Wine)

Illustrated talk after dinner (if requested) on SMGWA and its history (30m long)

Sunday 26th January Mess opens from 1000 for Regular Service until 1530hrs.

Mess available for use with no service from 1530 till 2030hrs

Sunday Roasts available (not included)

Monday 27th January Mess opens from 1000 for Regular Service until 1530hrs.

Mess available for use with no service from 1530 till 2030hrs

please indicate your 'interest' below, thanks

Dave

please

Possibly. Sounds interesting, but not sure about other commitments at the moment.

May be interested in this meet.
We are only 5 miles down the road.
Are dogs allowed ?

Thanks Chris

We would definitely have been interested in this, it sounds great. Sadly we will be elsewhere next year but if it goes well and you do it again in 2026 we will be interested.

MisterB. Sounds good Dave and I hope it goes ahead for you (y)

We shan't make it as we hope to be in sunnier climes. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I'm interested, hopefully have my diesel heating working by then?

Have been meaning to visit for some time, they had owls nesting there a few years ago. 👍

Is there ehu? Looks interesting

Sounds great but can't plan that far ahead at the moment ( ongoing issues)

Will have a chat with john we may be able to add it in with something else in the area around that time.

Unfortunately no EHU, which would mean three nights/days off grid, although the mess would be open at times, so you could save power by spending time inside there, we could potentially run some inside activities ...??

Jim

Can you close this thread please as there wasn't enough interest to make definitive arrangements, thanks

Only just seen this and 1 more might not make a difference but we'd be interested.

I'm hoping to tag it onto the Thorpe le Soken rally now, attending Thorpe is NOT a pre requisite....

Ah, I'd seen that but we can't make Thorpe le Soken in 2025 or the add-on at the airfield. Thanks anyway and good luck.

Only just seen this would be interested if it does ever happen. It’s is a fantastic place to visit. The airfield was untouched for many many years so most of it is still as it was in the First World War.

Only just seen this so will look at the other meet to which this is likely to be an add-on.

Jim asked for the thread to be closed So confused now is it an option or not 🤷‍♀️
Don't take a lot to confuse me

Actually, I did ask for Jim to close it, to stop any confusion, but it's not a problem.

TO CONFIRM - THE PROPOSED JANUARY EVENT IS NOT GOING AHEAD

Please see the link added by Holly's mum (thanks 👍)

Stow Maries IS going ahead in June, following the Thorpe le Soken rally and to avoid confusion, you can just attend one or the other! Hope that helps

please

Just spotted this thread, I wish I could attend because the wildlife on the airfield is stunning with resident Barn owls, Tawnys and Little Owl in the various airfield buildings. Evening times will be great for anyone wanting to photograph them 👏👏👏

It's in June now, if that helps? If not then any tips for anyone attending so they get the chance to view the wildlife?
If you can add on the new thread please, that would be helpful, thanks

Can I just attend the Stow Marie's and meal please as I have other commitments straight after Bash?

If so, when would you like payment and is it the same account as last year?

Of course you can. 1 or 2 persons please. Not sure of full details etc BUT it will be payment in full for Stow well before the event.

Can you respond on the other thread please ..

What dates in June please?
Interested.

Hope that helps
