Brompton bikes.. who has one ?

I have a house full of bikes 6 complete and two part built in the loft BUT I'm buying (have ordered a Brompton) and really looking forwards to it SOD the expense

These uGGs are itching for that brommie

Definitely the perfect accessory to a Brommie!!(y)

A complete failure as a folding bike
Just got rid of two folders, you see loads on bike racks but very few bother to fold them, as i said don't like small wheels don't feel safe on main roads.you could buy two bromie's for the price of the kalkhoff(y)

Appen eye but the thread is who has a Brompton  not why you shouldn't have one (y)

Anyway back to Bromptons.
No more locking the bike up outside the shops, just fold it and put it in the trolley or take it in the bar (y)
I can take my 4k Giant TCR and not leave it out of sight or my Airborne Zeppelin titanium or a mountain bike but all have to be brought back to the house from storage after every trip or take the brommie as a permanent option in the garage

Well................................................

Something you can NOT do with a standard bike (like I did yesterday)

Chuck the Brompton in the boot, drive to the local garage and leave the car there for a new exhaust, ride home :)

Then 90 minutes later, ride back, pick up car, chuck the Brompton in the boot, drive home (y) Job's a goodun (y)

Sometimes I feel quite sorry for those that simply 'don't geddit' :D

One of the main uses of mine actually. Do you find it attracts the attention of the mechanics? They can't quite believe that a bike just appeared from a twisted pile of tubing.

Bought a P6R & a M6L last year in raw lacquer & not regretted it. M6L folds v slightly smaller & is lighter due to lack of rear rack.

We had the Marathon tyres fitted which have thicker tread & are Kevlar lined - great on canal tow paths & rougher tracks, no punctures yet!

The furthest we have cycled on them is 40 to 50 miles a day (mainly on Loire a Velo route & Ile de Re piste cyclable) also used on hilly roads. Worth buying the bags to fit on the front. We have the S bag (huge capacity) & a smaller open shopping bag (can't remember what it's called)

The benefit of them fitting easily in our small MH garage & still having loads of room for everything else is big plus. Also pop them in boot of the fiesta if we want to drive & ride forest paths locally. We tend to fold just back wheel under & lock to railings when visiting city centres as they aren't light to carry about. Cost a fortune to insure though:eek:

Saw Brompton toolkit on @Techno s thread on his new Brompton....got to get that now(y)

£48 in most shops. dearer on ebay

I don't think I'd leave mine locked up as its still too easy to take bits off it.

Worth considering is the Burley "Travoy" trailer. It suits motorhome life in my opinion (and can't wait to finally use mine for the reason I bought it).

The Quick-Release fits around the seat post of any/most bikes. The idea is that you unhitch the Travoy and use it as a shopping trolley. There are a number of bags/accessories but what I like most is that the bags all attach to quick-release "lugs" on the frame of the trailer.

Cost a fortune to insure though:eek:

We have Direct line house insurance and it includes up to 4 bikes (max £1000 each) which is worth every penny as we just happen to have 4 bikes that do indeed cost nearly that much each. (The insurance premium is £180 per year (y))

You thought you had enough bikes?!!!!!!

I don't know how to break this to you, and I don't know how many bikes you currently own... but here goes... you were wrong.

Whenever you have thoughts like that you are wrong.

You simply can't have enough bikes.

If you think you do then check whether you own a 1970s Raleigh Chopper. Do you? No? Then you don't own enough bikes yet.

I knew that was coming, we only have 5 between us but one is a tandem so call it 6.

I had a 5 speed intended for the US market but dock strikes meant they ended up in Halfrauds

Handlebar grips! what is everyone using other than the standard foam.

Check out the 2017 Brompton racing strip. Modelled by the time trial association top man and friend Keith Lawton
