Broken down in Spain - any fluent Spanish speakers ?

I certainly will, Peavy spoke directly to garage to arrange my appointment, thanks also for Norriemac offering help.
If it's a disaster I'm with Caravanguard and I'm hoping they honour the repatriation if needed. Fingers crossed for Thursday.

Update :

I'm back home in the UK, the van is due to arrive back next Friday 29th.
I have to say the Caravanguard breakdown service has been great.

My next task is to dispose of the vehicle as for me its uneconomic to fix.
My 1st thought is Ebay spares or repairs.
2nd Are there any specialist Moho breakers any one can recommend ?

I'd be grateful for any alternative suggestions from Funsters.

What is it and what is wrong with it?

Sorry to hear of your problems
What was the diagnosis ?
Can't help with breakers but if you said what part of the country you're in others may be able to help

Timing belt went...
I'm in Oxfordshire
Thanks Figaro

How old is it as a 10 year old van could easily have 100,000 miles plus on it.
Picked up our new van mid June already done 5,000 mile.

Recon/exchange engine time have a look about for a replacement

Ive had a couple of quotes around 2k...
However when checking feedback I was'nt convinced and they seemed to deal with cars not vans.

I'm reluctant to gamble on a used engine that I or a mechanic cannot hear running.

I've had advice from a Funster to try and source a Fiat Ducato van withn a 2.8 engine thats running and for sale around £1200 ish .. doesn't need an MOT just want a working engine.

I've done a quick search on Ebay and Gumtree but haven't seen anything.

I would appreciate any leads fro Funsters who know of a donor vehicle.
Cheers, Pat

Why not try an engineering shop, rebore, new pistons, new valves, regrind and new shells will give you an almost brand new engine

Its a JTD...

I took it to a diesel specialist I had used before... they were very pessimistic about the cost to repair..they talked about
nearly 1k to sort out the head never mind the valves, pistons ,crankshaft etc...

I'm not very mechanically inclined so rely on experts, they said it could cost a few thousand and thats providing they could source the spares.

doesn't sound like they are really interested.

Van was delivered back to my storage a week ago, very impressed with the service from Caravanguard. I've been looking for a donor vehicle to replace the engine but having spoken to my very trusted local garage I've decided to sell the van... I've spent a lot in the last 12 months.
I'm in a couple of Hymer Facebook groups so hopefully I'll find someone looking for a project, if anyone on here is interested PM me and I'll send photo's and details.. else in the New Year its going on Ebay.
