I had an email today from Brittany Ferries offering free registration (normally £60) and "just" the £60 1st year membership for Club Voyage France (£90 for Spain). This gives "up to 35%" discounts (15% Spain) on crossings and further discounts on cabins, meals and wifi. Friends and family can get 10% off, too.
I did try ringing the 0330 159 7000 number but when informed there was an estimated 10 minute wait I decided to leave it for now, and thought I'd enquire whether there are any members here with experience/opinions about this? Given one can usually get 10% off with the CAMC, I am a little suspicious about the phrase "up to 35%". And possibly other catches - I don't really want to sleep on the diesel engine!

Don’t know where you got the figures. I’ve been a member for years - annual fee is £135.

We find that just one crossing per year saves the annual fee. Also, for each journey Friends & Family book we get a £10 credit to be used off next years crossings. Excellent club to join if you like France/Spain.

kept my membership number off message as BF do check misuse.

Ray,

They changed the prices for Membership.

'New' Members dont get all the Bells and Whistles discount wise that you get.

They've moved the goalposts somewhat.

I signed up for France with today’s deal, will probably save me some money over 3 or 4 trips this year, but shame it’s for new bookings only. About 10 minutes on the phone was no great hardship. Anybody needing a discount code, happy to help.

i found getting suitable dates with any cabin was not that easy unless you want most expensive cabins. Perhaps they are discounting these.

They changed the membership benefits in 2021. I wouldn’t bother now. The discounts are for just a few months of the year, winter. And depends on the sailing. Since covid the crossings have rocketed and the benefits reduced. Can’t get a ferry to Spain in September for under £600 plus so I now drive. We’re not in a hurry and £300 stays in my pocket. They need some competition🫤

Offered a discount for France in June. Wouldn’t normally bother with a day cabin but if that’s your thing I could have had one for half-price.
Also, been looking at Caen Portsmouth one way in mid July, £244 or £207 with discount - £37 saving on a single booking. Overall, I’m expecting a net saving for the handful of trips I’ll do.

Lots now
At voluntary, confidential, a weigh-in of Funsters at Peterborough a few years ago, we found about 30% to be overloaded, 10% of those were seriously overloading rear axles. Almost every van that was overweight was plated at 3.5t

Welcome to the forum.

Most forum subscribers will only give their codes to a fully paid up subscribing member, but you may be lucky.

It's well worth paying your subs in any case.

Hi Folks,
I did look into joining Club Voyage but, as I only manage to travel abroad with my Camper once a year, it doesn't make membership cost effective for me. If I'd have seen the offer of membership with no registration fee, I would have gone for it, but the extra £90 registration fee put me off.
I know members get a £10 credit if they provide their code to someone for use so I thought it might be a win-win for a member who had a few codes spare but I appreciate that most people wouldn't want to give them to just anyone.
I do have one now from one kind soul thank you and we are all booked up for 8 weeks pootering around in Spain and Portugal (maybe a bit of Morocco) next year.
Thanks anyway.

Motorhome Fun looks a great site tho' so I'll be digging around the forum, asking daft questions and looking for ideas for routes & places to visit shortly ;-)

depends on the time of year you go to the discount you get
With new memberships
Thank you all for your thoughts. i'm going to dither over the choice - France or Spain?!
Jeremy
We used to have both. But didn’t use the French one much . Plus you get 15% off French crossings with the Spanish one.

Plus st the moment, an additional 10% off so 25%

I don’t because it could be BF staff for a start . Don’t want to lose my old membership with full benefits
