Great news; I think!

Hmmm probably go south after this... bloody change

Hope it all works out well.

I really do hope this is a success but generally 'takeovers' do not result in greater customer service or an enhanced customer experience. Taking cost out of a business is number one priority. I just hope I'm wrong.

On a personal note I am very pleased for Steve and family. They took a risk, built a business and made it successful enough to sell it.

Hoping they have a brilliant retirement

Worries about the scheme? Maybe, maybe not - tine will tell

Just a question and not a criticism at all ….. at £32 is it worth it for members ?

If you use it, yes 😀

I also buy France Passion every year. Sometimes we use it and some years nit at all It doesn’t take many stats to make it worthwhile

Ive subscribed a couple of times but never used it , thought i would but never did.
Its just the thought of (mainly) parking my van in a pub carpark and sleeping there that just doesn’t sit right with me .
Though best of luck to them and i hope they made a handsome gain from selling the business , we have two friends who owned a small business producing and selling industrial quantities of printer ink in the early 2000s who were approached by an American firm to buy their business , it was sold and they enjoyed a very very comfortable early retirement with the proceeds , the firm is still going strong today .

Woke up in many BritStop pub car parks. Brilliant experience with the landlords being well up for it, including one beautiful pub stop near the Malvern Hills, who guided me to a gorgeous location on his front lawn, with amazing views, while another around Horton In Ribblesdale gave the best of all worlds, with the views, hospitality, grub and a brilliant selection of beers 🍻 😋

Just have a beer and some grub, which in my books is the best part of the experience.

We rarely stayed at pubs, but used many other hosts.
One place in Scotland was so accommodating that a member of staff offered to move their car so we would see the red squirrels better BUT we were happy to wait until she went home after work.
Because of family problems we were unable to use it last year but hopefully this year will be better. Good luck to Steve, who has always been very helpful, especially when my book has failed to arrive on a couple of occasions.

Have used it in the past but was hoping it would go on line with an app. (y)

Good luck to them..always nice to see someone start something..prove lots of the naysayers wrong..and then sell to a larger setup who hopefully will continue to improve the idea.

I've been a subscriber for years and thinks it's well worth it. Then think of all the pubs and businesses they have added a little bit of extra income and advertising too over the years .

Fair play

Maybe, but I subscribed this year and there’s no app, just a book with a code that won‘t work last years app
There is.
You have to uninstall the 2022 app
and re-install the 2023 one, use your code on that.
Valid 1st March

Using our Britstops' membership we stopped in the Crooke Hall Inn car park in Wigan after enjoying one of their tasty meals and convivial company. A quiet night's sleep with the picturesque Leeds and Liverpool canal adjacent what's not to like. DSC02263-A Brit Stops, Crooke Hall Inn, Crooke Nr. Wigan.JPG

Did this ever really take off? I was a member for the first 2 years but often got a "sorry we don't know anything about it and I can't let you stop over" from staff. After that I did my own version and simply purchased a few things in the shop or the pub and then asked to stay, which seemed to work just fine.

The book points you towards the app - once downloaded you need a unique code from the current year’s book (runs 1 March to 29 Feb 24.)

It is for me. Travelling solo Britstops have been a great resource. I've been using them for 9 years, as well as CL/CSs, sites and 'off grid'. I particularly like the non-pub stops, especially farm shops!
A couple of stops and the scheme has paid for itself. My 2023 book arrived yesterday. (y)
