Rally Chat Bristol Balloon Festival

@WynandJean there is a similar event the following weekend at Billing Aquadrome Northampton. Never been to either so cant compare.....

I went to the Caravan Club (as was) (Avon centre?) rally a few years back and it was busy but not full. I got the impression that they had never filled it.
Well worth doing, once.
I went with them last year and there was plenty of spare space but I get the impression that they have a maximum number and stick to it.

If I was in the area, I'd give them a try (just turn up). I'm sure they wouldn't want to turn you away and there's always a few that don't arrive.

Now looked up Billing Aquadrome and seen what it is

I am going and will be in the MCC field which (as has been said earlier) is opposite the Festival Field. Are you going Movan?

@Julie S, Julie, it would be good to meet you eventually so please feel free to track us down at Parsonage Farm. Our vans do have Funster stickers in the windscreen.

Well we're banking on it taking a week for them to traverse the country and we'll see them at Billing Aquadrome. Any who can't get to the Bristol one, we might see you there. :D

Hi Julie .. hope to.. :) would be nice to see you. .but I may have 2 yr old grandaughter with me so don't want to inflict ourselves on anyone. ... went torganised meet couple of years ago and loved it but can't remember where it was. Think it was a rugby club. (@Debs).

Yes it was Joy, organised by Trikeman. I was only laughing to myself about it the other day when Kate was talking about spiders:D x

That's not a problem at all.....message me if you do get there and I will come and say Hi x

Just turn up at Parsonage Farm, water and a dump, field nearly level, Pub on the corner has two prices, one for the locals one for the campers.
Festival is only a 10 min walk over the road. AND! the beer is cheaper at the festival (at the pub I was charged £9 odd for a pint of Guiness lager!) Bus into Bristol just over the road too
Light festival is good, and if you are lucky enough to see a launch(y)Some times however the wind is too strong, but hey ho! The fireworks make up for it!, and at £10 a night?

Having started this thread I am a bit embarrassed to say I am not coming! I have to cancel due to a lot of jobs regarding organisations I help run, and I just can't spare the time. It has been a busy summer so far and it's not over yet. After this w/e I am away for several more weekends!! See you at Malvern!!

Looking forward to all your pics . So going to miss being there . How many of you are going x

Heading off in the next half hour - I'll get there sometime today just hoping the ground at Parsonage Farm is ok!!

Arrived at Parsonage Farm with the Sat Nag having brought us through the city centre which is all dug up with roadworks! Also there is a footie match on tonight - but we made it. The cost is now £15 per night - supply and demand I guess. Now time for a drink me thinks.

If any other funsters are here we are on the top field parked behind the RV's.

The twitter feed @bristolballoon is useful as you can set alarm to 6 am and check twitter feed for updates on whether flying happening. Saves getting out of bed!

Hi Kate, 5 RV's so far. Will post a photo later. Hope the weather stays fine as may need one of them to pull me of the field otherwise!

Most of the units are in the top field but there are others spread about - not sure which is the best area, will have to wait and see.

Is the field fairly firm? We are going tomorrow night, will be camped with MCC though.
Hopefully the weather will be good :)

The field seems ok,or at least we got on with no problem. However having looked at my tyres they are full of mud! Really need some decent weather!

Ar e you at the top field where you come Of the road by water and Elson point . That's the best place to be Carol .there is usually a rope separating you from the small field that faces the road . That's used for general paying carpark for people attending morning flights etc .

You are exactly right Kate. We are in the top just after the carpark area.
