We went to this site for Easter 2024. We wanted a site by a pub, which was good for walking.

It is at the centre of Dorset set in some beautiful hilly countryside.

We were warned not to drive on the grass, which was sodden, but not surprising after the recent weather. There are 10 hard standing pitches, one is very big but might have a semi-permanent caravan, one is to the side of the driveway so potentially wide, the rest vary from narrow to a bit wider. The narrow hardstanding pitches have just enough width to step out if you are up against the grass (bearing in mind we have a VW!).

Three big, decent shower rooms with basin/WC plus a separate loo in a portakabin; a washing up station with hot water; chemical and grey waste near the top of the site (not drive-over); EHU included, plenty of water taps. There are grass pitches, but would need drier weather than we had!

Fast 4G on EE; poor reception on Voda / O2, but the site wifi is good enough for web browsing even on the pitches.

Village shop and Post Office is on the farm; the pub is good and was busy over the Bank Holiday, food was excellent (except for the Sticky Toffee Pudding - avoid! Signed, a connoisseur 😞).

Best approach with minimal narrow roads is from the South via Milborne St Andrew.

Excellent walking, try these routes for inspiration. The Dorset Gap circular via Bingham's Melcombe, Hog Hill, and the Dorsetshire Gap is superb.

Forgot to mention the beer.

Over the Easter weekend they had beers from Lyme Bay and Cerne Abbas breweries. Very nice!
